AC Milan edge closer to deal for Liverpool striker

Darwin Nunez set for Serie A

AC Milan are on the verge of completing a move for Uruguay and Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez in a deal worth approximately 40 million euros. Nunez has struggled to show the form that captured the attention of the Anfield giants whilst he was at Benfica, scoring 32 goals in 57 games in the Portuguese top flight.

Since his arrival at Anfield, Nunez has only managed to bag 25 goals in 95 Premier League games, and his goalscoring record is considered undesirable and Nunez will be allowed to leave. The 26-year-old knows that a move to AC Milan will likely bring regular first-team football, but staying at Liverpool will leave his opportunities limited. The arrival of Hugo Ekitike will create new competition and an ongoing move for Alexander Isak could spell the end for Nunez at the Reds.

It is a steady fall from grace for Nunez, who Liverpool paid a total 100 million euros to sign in 2022-23. At AC Milan he is expected to lead the line for the next two to three years, and therefore is considered a bargain transfer signing for the Rossoneri.
