A newly released indie game that mixes Ghostrunner’s gameplay with Cyberpunk 2077 is now available. Granted, both these games are set in cyberpunk worlds. Ghostrunner is a first-person action parkour game in which you run through various stages, slaying enemies with your sword. You eliminate them with a single strike, but in the same manner, you can be defeated with a single hit.
This makes beating bosses in Ghostrunner a lot more difficult. Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 is a fully-fledged open-world action RPG, but you’re not limited to a one-hit-kill system. Instead, you usually have to break down your opponents with firearms or melee weapons – or hack them. Now, a new indie game from the creators of Ruiner, which is also a cyberpunk title, has been released.
The Game Somewhat Resembles Ghostrunner, Cyberpunk 2077, & Even Doom
Developer Reikon Games released Metal Eden on September 2 for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The new title is a fast-paced cyberpunk-themed FPS. Much like in Ghostrunner, you’ll be able to move across arenas very quickly, with several abilities that make it part of the great parkour games subgenre. The main difference here, however, is that you have access to guns, and there isn’t a one-hit-kill system.
Like in Cyberpunk 2077, you’ll have access to a variety of different firearms, as well as melee weapons and biomechanic modifications, to fight your opponents. Because of how quickly you are required to move around the arena while managing ammo and defeating your enemies, Metal Eden is also reminiscent of the gameplay in Doom: The Dark Ages, but set in a cyberpunk world rather than a demonic one.
Metal Eden Is On Sale For A Limited Time
While Metal Eden isn’t a free game, per se, it can be tested without any costs in a free demo. The demo can be downloaded on all three platforms on which the game is available. Of course, the demo has a limitation, and you won’t be able to progress too far without purchasing the game. The good thing is that the title is on sale.
Until September 9, you can purchase Metal Eden at 10% off on Steam, PS Store, and Xbox Store. This reduces the game’s original price of $39.99 down to $35.99. It’s not a major discount, but the sale celebrates the game’s release this month, and could be a great way of getting to play the title this early on.
Metal Eden had been in development for a while and had beta tests a few months ago, which surprised me. Now, the game is available in its entirety, and if it’s truly as good as Ruiner was, Metal Eden will be another great cyberpunk indie title under Reikon’s belt.
