Arsenal head coach Renee Slegers has signed a new three-year contract with the club to extend her time in charge to 2029.

Slegers was given the permanent role nearly a year ago, signing an 18-month deal at the time, having taken interim charge after Jonas Eidevall’s dismissal in October 2024.

Four months after becoming head coach, Slegers led Arsenal to Champions League glory, beating Barcelona 1-0 to lift the trophy for the first time in 18 years.

Slegers, who originally joined the club as an assistant coach in 2023, has taken charge of 51 games across all competitions, winning 36 of those (D5 L10), and boasts a 70.6% win rate. In that time, Arsenal have scored 130 goals and conceded 50.

“From playing in the academy and being in the stands watching Arsenal win the Champions League in 2007, to living it with our players, staff and supporters last summer, I’m immensely proud to have shared this journey with Arsenal, a club that means so much to me and to so many people,” Slegers told Arsenal’s website.

Slegers led Arsenal on a 13-match unbeaten run in all competitions after first being introduced as interim head coach, leading her to getting the permanent position.

Arsenal are on their longest unbeaten run of the Women’s Super League season (P6 W4 D2) and could win three league games in a row for the first time in 2025-26.

They face Manchester United on Saturday in their first game since the winter break, and a win over the Red Devils could see them leapfrog Chelsea into second ahead of the rest of the weekend’s games.
