Ocarina Of Time 4K Trailer Is So Gorgeous I Could Cry

I’ll let you in on a little secret: GTA 6 can swivel as far as I’m concerned, because 2026 is the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. While we don’t yet know for sure what Nintendo is cooking up for Zelda’s birthday bash, there are a few things we’d definitely all like to see.

One of the few official things we know for sure about The Legend Of Zelda 40th anniversary is that Ocarina of Time is coming back as part of a massive new LEGO set. This has, understandably, led to speculation that Nintendo could be planning a remake of the 1998 classic to sit alongside the LEGO set. While this may be wishful thinking, an unofficial trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 4K shows us just how perfect a remake or remaster would be on Nintendo Switch 2. Better yet, if you can’t wait for the real thing, you can play this one now.

Created and showcased by Henriko Magnifico, a creator who’s made some pretty impressive texture packs over the years (including one for Twilight Princess), Ocarina of Time 4K is a substantial visual upgrade to the excellent Ocarina of Time 3D.

Released back in 2011 for 3DS, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is itself a huge improvement on the 1998 original, including revamped graphics, streamlined controls, and a raft of other excellent features. I’d argue it’s the best way to play Ocarina of Time in 2026, and I’d be very happy to see a Nintendo Switch 2 port with improved resolution and textures if another full-on remake is out of the question.

Magnifico’s trailer for Ocarina of Time 3D‘s 4K texture pack shows us what a Switch 2 port might look like, and the result is stunning. The overhaul maintains the vibrant style of the original game, while making it look and feel thoroughly modern. This is actually available to download and play for yourself via Magnifico’s website, but it does take some setting up. Surely, an official release similar to this would be a great way for Nintendo to celebrate Zelda’s 40th anniversary?

“Nintendo could deadass do the same thing with some upgraded models and release it for $60 today and no one would complain,” one gamer wrote in the video’s comment section. They’re not wrong.

An official Ocarina of Time remake may not be a guarantee, but 2026 is still going to be a huge year for us Zelda fans. I’m willing to bet we get the first trailer for the upcoming Zelda movie, as well as some news on the next mainline entry.

As for Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary remasters? We’ll have to wait and see. I think Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD on Switch 2 are a safe bet, but if Nintendo really wants to make those fat stacks, an Ocarina of Time re-release is surely a no-brainer. Watch this space.
