While the DC Universe has a Batman reboot in the works, there are still many discussions going on about who should be the next Caped Crusader for the big screen. As The Brave and The Bold will bring Bruce Wayne into the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” for DC Studios, several Hollywood actors have emerged as popular choices for the role.
One of them is Jonathan Bailey, who was paired up with David Corenswet in Variety’s Actors on Actors to interview one another. After @HomeOfDCU put out the fun request to see what Bailey would look like as Batman, @pulp_flick did several edits of the two actors as the World’s Finest for the DCU. Check it out below:
The edit sees what Bailey would also look like as the Dark Knight and Bruce, respectively, next to Corenswet as Superman and Clark Kent. One of the shots also pays homage to How It Should Have Ended’s Superman and Batman.
The DCU’s Batman first appeared in the franchise through the animated Creature Commandos TV show, as he showed up both in a flashback and in Circe’s future vision. In the vision of the potential future, the Caped Crusader was one of several dead Justice League heroes seen.
Is Jonathan Bailey Going To Be The DCU’s Batman?
As many want to see Bailey don the famous cape and cowl in The Brave and The Bold movie, the actor was asked in early November 2025 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, about the fancasting. The British star stated at the time, “Would I do Batman? I grew up with Val Kilmer, George Clooney, obviously Christian Bale, and Robert Pattinson. It’s a legacy. I think James Gunn is amazing. Who knows.”
Gunn has confirmed that the Batman reboot for the DCU is still being written, and while Andy Muschietti is set to direct, it has yet to be revealed who is actually writing the script. The fancasting for Bailey as the iconic Gotham City hero began in December 2024, after Gunn had liked a BlueSky post (via X.)
The post that garnered a lot of attention included, “I’m actually surprised he’s not a more popular fan cast for Batman,” as it was about expressing their support for Bailey being tapped for a role in the DCU.
While The Brave and The Bold doesn’t have a set release date yet, Superman is out now through streaming and home media release, with a DCU continuation currently in the works, titled Man of Tomorrow, slated for July 9, 2027.
