If you are struggling to get today’s Connections puzzle, it might feel as if you are struggling to get to the summit of a mountain. This puzzle felt a little more difficult, and there are some interesting word combinations that can make it hard to solve. Regardless, if you feel like it is just as hard as I did, you don’t need to worry. I have all the hints you need and the usual commentary on just what went wrong and when during my time solving the puzzle, as it should help you get the right answers.
If you are looking for a puzzle that will take a similar amount of time but with less words, you should try the NYT’s Tiles puzzle. It is a layer of tiles that you will have to slowly uncover and erase by making pairs. You have to match them layer by layer, but there is no order that you have to do so in as you can match whatever layer you want. It makes them a little easier, and you can get the puzzle done in no time.
Today’s Connections Category Hints
MARCH 04 #632
If you need help on today’s puzzle, as it is quite a mountain to climb, you can get the right solution through our clues. There was a big category that could be quite confusing, and one of the “easier” categories was more difficult for me than they usually are. The last category is very typical, but in combination with a lot of other categories that overlap or are confusing, it becomes much more difficult as well.
- One category is about something you might say to describe someone who looks good
- One category is about words that describe a person’s feature if it’s not looking good
- One category is about the names of people from a specific set of books
- One category is about four words that come before a different word in a phrase – that word is something you might find on a fence

DEWY |

Right away, a word is in this category is one of the reasons I struggled with this puzzle. DEWY is one of several characters that could go with SCROOGE. It’s not the official Dickens’ novel, but it is the Donald Duck spin-off. It doesn’t help that DAISY is also in this puzzle, and I wasn’t sure if a PIP existed in that movie or any of the later shows, but it fit into the theme, so I decided to go for it. Unfortunately, it was wrong, but I was able to get the right answer for this category after that.

THATCH |
This one did not make much sense to me, as while I had some of these words paired up, I struggled to figure out where THATCH belonged. My knowledge of the word THATCH is strictly archaeological, so I was thinking of it as a type of roof and only a type of roof. I never figured it out entirely, but I was in the right ballpark except for that last word. It’s unfortunate, but I am not that mad about it as I wasn’t sure what was going on.

SCROOGE |
TWIST |
This one I felt like had to be something, as SCROOGE doesn’t just show up in a puzzle without a better reason. TWIST was easier, but BUCKET was definitely the hard one to remember. It’s been a long time since I’ve read any of Dickens’ stories, but at least I remembered just enough to get the category down, even if I missed out on some of the others. It would’ve otherwise been very disappointing to my high school English teacher.

DAISY |
FOOD |

SUPPLY |
This one was hard and I never fully got there. I did have FOOD and SUPPLY together, but I didn’t connect it to an entirely separate word and was not sure what to do with them. I originally had them with some of the other words in this puzzle, which was where I eventually lost. Between THATCH and DAISY, I just wasn’t sure what to do with what was left, and that was an unfortunate experience for me, even though I felt quite close to the right answers.
