Arsenal eye Atletico Madrid star Pablo Barrios

Arsenal are interested in signing Pablo Barrios from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to TBR. The Gunners are keen on a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, but if the north London club are unable to bring him to the Emirates Stadium, then they are assessing other options, and one of them is Barrios.

Barrios has been on the books of Atletico since 2017 and has established himself in the first team of the Spanish club after coming through the youth system. The 21-year-old Spain international midfielder has given two assists in 26 matches in all competitions so far this season. Barrios has scored one goal and provided two assists in 35 appearances in the 2023-24 campaign.

Arsenal are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 54 points from 27 matches, 13 points behind leaders Liverpool, who have played 28 games. Meanwhile, Atletico currently find themselves third in the La Liga table with 53 points from 25 games, a point behind Barcelona and Real Madrid, who are first and second respectively in the standings.
