As his impact on the entertainment industry continues to expand, Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan unveils a production campus in North Texas, now the largest television and film studio in the state. The prolific screenwriter, director, actor, and producer is known for Yellowstone, as well as multiple other series for Paramount+ and films like Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River.
Stagerunner reported that Taylor Sheridan and 101 Studios CEO David Glasser have teamed up with Hillwood and Paramount Television to develop a massive 450,000-square-foot production studio. The space consists of two buildings and is outfitted with soundstages, post-production suites, and ample space to grow, reportedly set to host four large-scale productions simultaneously.
The campus, developed under Sheridan, Glasser, and Dan Schryer’s SGS Studios banner, hosted Landman season 2. A new Yellowstone spinoff, tentatively titled Rio Alto, is underway at the facility. It’s slated to house The Madison season 2 in September and Lioness season 3 in October, with Glasser noting that “every single corner is rented.” Read Sheridan’s statement below:
“SGS Studios isn’t just about soundstages or tax incentives — it’s about reclaiming the independence and grit that built this industry. Texas offers something rare: the space to dream big, the freedom to build fast, and a community that still believes storytelling matters.”
What SGS Studios Means For Taylor Sheridan & North Texas
SGS Studios will be a massive boost to Taylor Sheridan’s growing network of television shows for Paramount+. Sheridan has already filmed several of his productions in North Texas, and SGS Studios will be a more permanent space for his projects. Glasser, who frequently works with Sheridan, noted they “found the need and demand to be so much.”
The development sits on Hillwood’s AllianceTexas development in north Fort Worth. Hillwood president Mike Berry realized the opportunity, converting two industrial buildings into production-ready facilities. The developments are slated to bring economic growth to the area, with plans for an additional 300,000-square-foot expansion underway, which would upgrade the studios with eight more soundstages.
Berry believes the move will drive demand for nearby retail and restaurants, and potentially a hotel. Sheridan’s productions have already impacted the region, with Landman season 2 alone employing 1,092 crew members, 192 cast members, and over 2,500 extras. Glasser estimates Sheridan’s productions could employ 15,000 people in Texas this year, doubtlessly impacting economic growth.
Our Take On Taylor Sheridan’s SGS Studios
Anyone paying any attention to Taylor Sheridan lately knows that his productions are making waves. Filmed in Texas, where Sheridan and Glasser are setting up shop, Landman season 1 quickly became Paramount+’s most popular original series of all time, with its premiere garnering an astounding 35 million viewers globally (via Paramount+). Therefore, this move is the perfect play.
Taylor Sheridan’s productions have experienced delays and hurdles in the past, so SGS Studios will allow for more seamless production and faster turnaround times, as it has with Landman season 2, which will premiere on November 16, almost exactly a year after its original release. It’s the framework that’s needed to make the Sheridan-verse a well-oiled machine.
