Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has urged the hierarchy to sign Lille striker Jonathan David on a free transfer this summer, according to Fichajes.

The Portuguese has endured a tough managerial career with the Red Devils. The club have picked up just 15 points from as many games under him.

Despite this, Amorim has the complete support from the board and they are expected to back him with several high-profile signings in the summer.

Fichajes claim that David is one of the names on his radar. The Canadian has been in superb form this term with 19 goals and nine assists for Lille.

He has earned plaudits for his performances in the Champions League. He could join another club for free with his contract expiring on June 30.

West Ham United have already made contact with the player’s agents, but the Red Devils could beat them to his signature with a better salary offer.

Amorim appears determined to bring the 25-year-old to Old Trafford.
