Maresca on Nkunku’s absence

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed the reason behind Christopher Nkunku‘s absence against Fulham in the Premier League.

The Blues registered a stunning 2-1 comeback win over the Cottagers on Sunday. Pedro Neto made the headlines with a 93rd-minute winner.

Speaking after the game, Maresca was asked the reason behind Nkunku’s absence. The Frenchman was not part of the matchday squad.

The Italian said that it was a ‘technical decision’ to leave him out. It remains to be seen whether he will play again for the rest of the season.

The former RB Leipzig man has been a huge disappointment since his move to the Blues. He has looked a shadow of himself this term.

Nkunku is clearly lacking confidence at the moment and he could be on his way out of the club during the upcoming transfer window.

Bayern Munich tried to sign him earlier this year, and they could make a renewed approach when the transfer window reopens.
