Arteta praises Madueke after Leeds win

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has publicly praised Noni Madueke after his solid performance against Leeds United in the Premier League.

The England international has had limited playing time since the start of the season, given that he has played second fiddle to Bukayo Saka on the right wing.

However, he finally got his opportunity against Leeds on the left wing following a hamstring injury sustained by Christos Tzolis on Greece duty.

Madueke is not a natural from the left flank but caught the eye with his movement and quality crosses into the box over the entire match.

One of his right-footed crosses paved the way for Ben White to provide a headed assist for Riccardo Calafiori‘s crucial equaliser.

Madueke also played his part in the lead-up to the second goal, and speaking after the game, Arteta was full of praise for him.

The Spanish tactician said that Madueke has been the best player in training for the last ten days and deserved the right to start on the left wing.

He said: “What he’s done is raised the level and in training he’s been the best player in the last 10 days.

“He gave me no option not to select him and not to play him today.

“You could see that every time he was in and around the box, he looked a threat.”
