Prime Video subscribers will find the perfect movies to watch on the streaming service this weekend in the form of three different releases that move away from the three-movie thriller binge we constructed the last time around. On last weekend’s Prime Video movie recommendations, I explored titles like Martin Scorsese’s Cape Fear, Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher, and Gal Gadot”s The Runner.
Only one of those movies is currently trending on Prime Video in the United States a week later. That would be The Runner, but even then, Gadot’s new action thriller has been dethroned on Prime Video’s charts. According to FlixPatrol, The Runner is now the 2nd most-watched movie on Prime Video worldwide, with the new film that surpassed it being included on this list.
That would be a new Prime Video original movie, which happens to be one of two such films on this weekend’s Prime Video movie recommendations. One of those is a new romance with a popular international star that has become an instant streaming sensation. The other Prime Video original is an action thriller starring Reacher star Alan Ritchson.
Finally, the only licensed movie on our Prime Video recommendations for the second weekend of September is a sci-fi horror movie set within a superhero franchise. All three of these movies on Prime Video are timely releases. As such, get ready to embark on a wild journey on the streamer. Here they are:

Drawn Together (2026)
Drawn Together is Prime Video’s new original romance thriller, having been released on the streaming service worldwide on Wednesday, September 9. The Spanish film stars Ester Expósito, known around the world for her breakout role in Netflix’s eight-season teen drama Elite, and The Killer‘s Hugo Diego Garcia. They give life to Marfil Cortés and Sebastián Moore, respectively.
The fiery romance explores their growing connection as the latter is hired by the former’s rich father to serve as her bodyguard after she is briefly kidnapped at the start of the movie. However, expect a lot of secrets and twists in Prime Video’s new romantic thriller. At the time of writing, Drawn Together is the most-watched movie on Prime Video worldwide and the 2nd most popular in the United States.
2
Morbius (2022)
Listen, I know that Morbius has quite a few flaws. That said, the superhero movie is a timely release if you have not checked it out thus far. Not only does Morbius showcase what a superhero horror can be like before DC’s Clayface releases in theaters on October 23, but the film unites three stars that many viewers are actively searching for or watching right now.
Morbius himself, Jared Leto, earned praise for his performance as Skeletor in Masters of the Universe, which became a massive hit on Prime Video. Matt Smith, who plays Lucien, Morbius’ closest friend, was at the forefront of HBO’s House of the Dragon season 3 as Daemon Targaryen. Finally, Adria Arjona is currently rumored to be playing DC’s new Wonder Woman in the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, and she entered the comic book realm as Dr. Martine Bancroft.
1
Playdate (2025)
Finally, the perfect movie to end the weekend on Prime Video is Playdate, another original. The 2025 action thriller stars Reacher lead Alan Ritchson, who is currently ruling Prime Video’s TV charts around the world with Reacher season 4, which concludes on September 16. To help in the wait for the Reacher season 4 finale is Playdate, an action comedy that offers a new side of Ritchson in the genre.
Additionally, Playdate recently returned as a US streaming sensation, ranking as high as #10 on Prime Video nationwide. The action comedy sees Ritchson play a capable dad on the run with his son, while Kevin James plays another dad who has no clue how to fight and got roped into quite the adventure when his son went on a playdate with Ritchson’s. Prime Video subscribers should have a lot of fun seeing the Reacher star in a familiar, yet different environment.
