Arsenal are set to open discussions with Declan Rice over a blockbuster contract extension, according to TEAMtalk.

Since completing a record-breaking £105million move from West Ham back in the summer of 2023, the England international has been a colossus at the heart of Mikel Arteta’s midfield.

In possession of Arsenal’s’ captains armband on plenty of occasions over the past 12 months, Rice played a leading role last season as the Gunners got their hands on a first Premier League crown since back in 2004.

With his current contract at the Emirates set to run until 2028, it appears that reigning English champions are eager to begin discussions with their midfield talisman over new terms.

Widely regarded as one of the best central midfielders on the planet, TEAMtalk’s report suggests that Spanish icons Real Madrid are a long-term admirer of the ex-West Ham skipper.

However, alongside their hopes of getting Rice tied down to a bumper new deal in north London, Rice is not the only first-team superstar who Arteta’s side are set to open contract renewals with.

TEAMtalk announced that the Arsenal hierarchy are also looking to get the respective futures of Jurrien Timber and club captain Marin Odegaard sorted.

Although the Gunners might have recruited Brazilian superstar Bruno Guimaraes in an £80million move over the summer, Arteta is keen on maintaining his senior core.
