Ahsoka season 2 may debut one of the most powerful Star Wars villains ever. As seen in the first season of the live-action Star Wars show, audiences were introduced to the extragalactic world of Peridea, the original homeworld of the Nightsisters and the planet where both Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger were exiled for nearly a decade. However, Ahsoka season 1 ended with some major teases about Peridea’s true power.

From the moment the fallen Jedi and dark-side mercenary Baylan Skoll set foot on Peridea, he claimed a mysterious power was calling out to him, offering the chance to break the cycles of conflict and light and dark that have plagued the galaxy for centuries. While we never learned what this power was, the first season’s major cliffhanger gave some major teases. Now, Ahsoka season 2’s first trailer continues to tease that this new power will indeed be revealed.

Seeing as how this power is heavily implied to be tied to the Mortis Gods, I have a pretty exciting idea as to what this power truly is, and the major galaxy-shaking Star Wars villain likely wielding it in Ahsoka season 2.

Ahsoka Season 2 Teases A New Power “To End All Wars”

The new Ahsoka season 2 trailer finally provides some key information about Baylan Skoll and his mysterious objective. In the new trailer, Anakin’s Force ghost tells Ahsoka that the power Baylan is searching for could “end all wars.” As such, it certainly sounds like something far beyond an ordinary weapon we’ve typically seen on screen before in the galaxy far, far away. Considering the various shots of Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren entering what looks to be an ancient temple of Peridea, the power in question is likely incredibly old and supernatural in nature.

It also feels important to note that Baylan’s motivations are not those of a typical Sith. A former Jedi who survived Order 66, Baylan became disillusioned with the endless conflict between the Jedi and Sith, and he tells his apprentice Shin Hati in Ahsoka season 1 that the galaxy is caught in a never-ending wheel, one he wishes to break.

Keeping that in mind, if the power Baylan Skoll is searching for on Peridea can genuinely end all wars, it could theoretically accomplish exactly what he wants by fundamentally changing the relationship between the Force and the galaxy. However, it’s almost guaranteed that there’s likely going to be a catch as Baylan and Shin race Ahsoka and Sabine for this mysterious new power.

For instance, the hidden cost of a power capable of ending all wars in the galaxy may be the destruction of life altogether, bringing about the end of everything, not just the conflict Baylan seeks to permanently end. As a result, it’s an idea that becomes far more intriguing when considering where Baylan Skoll was at the end of Ahsoka season 1.

Peridea Is Connected To The Mortis Gods

Ahsoka season 1’s ending strongly suggested that Baylan’s final destination on Peridea is connected to none other than the Mortis Gods. After all, he was last seen standing on a massive statue of the Father, overlooking a large valley and what looked to be a beacon atop a mountain in the far distance.

First introduced in The Clone Wars animated series, the Mortis Gods were incredibly powerful cosmic Force anchorites encountered by Anakin, Obi-Wan, and young Ahsoka. The Father represented balance, while his children, the Son and Daughter, represented the dark and light sides of the Force respectively. As the Son and Daughter routinely clashed, the Father sought to keep his children in check, a role he tried to pass on to the Chosen One.

Ultimately, all three gods are killed by the end of The Clone Wars’ three-episode Mortis arc, the result of the Son’s schemes with the Mortis Dagger. After killing the Son following the deaths of the Father and Daughter, Anakin ultimately restores balance to the planet, just like he would for the galaxy at large. Additionally, Ahsoka herself was corrupted by the dark side and killed by the Son during this major Mortis arc, only to be resurrected by the Daughter using the last of her power (explaining the presence of the Daughter’s owl-like convor Morai wherever Ahsoka goes, even in live-action).

As a result, Peridea’s Mortis God statues extend their mysterious cosmic mythology even further. If Baylan ends up discovering something connected to the Mortis Gods themselves, the power he could gain could very well affect the nature of the Force itself, opening the door to an extremely dangerous (yet very exciting) possibility for Ahsoka season 2.

Star Wars Theory: Baylan Skoll May Be Trying To Release Abeloth

One of the biggest theories surrounding Baylan’s storyline ever since Ahsoka season 1’s major cliffhanger is that he could inadvertently release Abeloth, one of the most terrifying beings first featured in now non-canonical Legends stories.

In Legends, Abeloth was once a mortal woman who became Mother to the Mortis family, helping the Father keep his children in check. Aging while her loved ones remained immortal, she drank from the forbidden Font of Power and bathed in the Pool of Knowledge. This resulted in her corruption as Abeloth, an immensely powerful immortal Force entity of chaos and entropy, seeking to bring about the end of everything, thereby forcing the Son and Daughter to routinely unite and keep her imprisoned whenever the flow of the Force shifted in the galaxy.

In Legends, Abeloth broke free during the New Republic Era, as the Son and Daughter had been slain during the Clone Wars along with the Father. As such, perhaps Baylan Skoll will be the one to inadvertently free her in the established canon, with Ahsoka season 2 being inspired by these original Legends stories.

If Abeloth is somehow connected to the mysterious power hidden on Peridea and is the one calling out to Baylan, the fallen Jedi could genuinely believe that releasing her would help end the cycle of galactic warfare. On the one hand, he wouldn’t necessarily be wrong, seeing how a massive cosmic threat like Abeloth could make the current galactic conflicts between light and dark, or New Republic and Imperial Remnant, all too irrelevant.

However, the major risk of ending everything in Abeloth’s wake is likely not what Baylan has in mind. This would also make Baylan’s storyline far more tragic. By attempting to create lasting peace and break the cycle, he could accidentally unleash something that threatens every living being in the galaxy.

If Ahsoka season 2 were to recanonize Abeloth, she could become one of the most powerful and wholly unique villains Star Wars has ever seen. Unlike another Sith Lord or Imperial warlord, Abeloth would represent an existential threat to the Force itself, both the light and the dark side.

At the time of writing, whether Baylan actually releases Abeloth (or if the power is indeed Abeloth at all) remains completely unknown. The mysterious power on Peridea could just as easily be something completely different. Even so, the pieces are all there, and it would be amazing if Ahsoka’s residual connection to the Daughter and/or guidance from Anakin led to her being uniquely positioned to defeat Abeloth were she to be freed (and exist) in the current Star Wars canon.
