The Lady Of Bear Island Officially Releases September 9

HBO’s Game of Thrones had no shortage of memorable and beloved characters, with a cast that brought George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire universe to life in ways viewers never imagined was possible. Some of the actor-to-character match-ups such as Emilia Clarke to Daenerys Targaryen or Kit Harrington to Jon Snow are so iconic that the actors themselves still have a hard time separating from the roles.

However, Game of Thrones also added rocket fuel to many minor character-actor’s careers: Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo, Hannah Waddingham as Septa Unella, and Richard Madden as Robb Stark all went on to have hugely successful careers and aren’t even recognized much for their roles in Game of Thrones anymore.

But there’s one fan-favorite character that completely outgrew her role in Game of Thrones and became the face of a completely different franchise, which is the legendary Bella Ramsey. While she may have first blown up due to her iconic role as Lyanna Mormont, she’s arguably far better recognized now for her portrayal of Ellie in HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us video games. Funny enough, her Last of Us co-star Pedro Pascal later reached mega-stardom for various roles as well, far outgrowing his somewhat minor role as Oberyn in GoT as well.

That said, Bella Ramsey’s Lyanna Mormont is officially returning from the dead after her tragic end in the final season of Game of Thrones, featured in the upcoming release of The Lady of Bear Island on September 9 (via GoTL).

Game of Thrones: Legends is expanding its Stark faction with three new Legendary Champions, including the long-awaited return of Lyanna Mormont. The release includes Brienne of Tarth: The True Knight on August 26, followed by Lyanna Mormont’s The Lady of Bear Island on September 9, and a new Ned Stark under the Hand of the King title on September 23.

Lyanna is designed to reward “a team that strikes in the right order, turning one assault into the next until the enemy finally breaks,” and is described as a Champion who “keeps the North fighting and ensures a Stark leader is ready to answer immediately.” Lyanna’s arrival will also be accompanied by a Lady of Bear Island Summon, following the same general release structure as Brienne’s current True Knight Summon, which uses Exalted Tokens and features a pool of Legendary Champions alongside its headline character.

Summons are Game of Thrones: Legends’ primary system for acquiring Champion Shards, which are used to unlock and improve Champions, or the playable characters you can assemble and synergize with different team combos. If you’ve never played, Game of Thrones: Legends is Zynga’s free-to-play puzzle RPG, which combines match-3 battles, character collection, and team-building, and features tie-ins from heroes and villains across HBO’s expanded Game of Thrones universe.
