For as long as I can remember, the zombie genre has been a staple of fiction in all of the different forms it takes. From enjoying Sean of the Dead as a child to growing up alongside many seasons of The Walking Dead, us humans truly have a fascination with the undead, and this latest video game release will be no exception to that rule.

Combining the hordes of undead that are reminiscent of The Walking Dead with the survival mechanics of the likes of Valheim, The Last Disease Z is a brand-new open-world zombie survival game where players will need to team up with friends to survive the apocalypse.

Developed by Bublig, The Last Disease Z takes place in a world where everything is against you and as you explore abandoned cities with friends, you will need to scavenge for supplies, find a place to live, and build your stronghold, all whilst dealing with zombies and bandits alike.

Released back on 21 August, The Last Disease Z is the newest addition to the zombie survival genre, but as a one-man project by a solo developer, it is now available in early access. On top of that, if you do not want to splash the cash (although the game is merely £5.99 on Steam), you can also download a free demo to try out the chaotic multiplayer title for yourself for a limited time.

The island looks peaceful only at first glance. An abandoned city, deserted villages, a ruined military base – all of it reminds you of a time when humans still controlled what was happening. Now chaos reigns: zombies roam the streets, mutants hide in the forests, and armed bandits set up ambushes at the most valuable points of interest.

Starting with the very basics, your journey through The Last Disease Z will consist of fighting, building, and most importantly, surviving, all whilst remembering that humans can be just as monstrous as the undead. As such, you will need to spend your time gathering resources, crafting tools, building shelter, and defending it from other players and hostile raiders.

Every trip beyond your base is a test. Every item you find is a chance to survive a little longer.

Develop your character’s skills, explore the island, hunt, and fight – only the toughest will endure.
