Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders is on the verge of leaving Manchester City for Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah after the two clubs reportedly agreed a package worth around £51.2m.
The 28-year-old midfielder has given his green light to the transfer, bringing an abrupt end to his spell at the Etihad Stadium just 14 months after joining from AC Milan for £46.5m.
Reijnders enjoyed an encouraging start to life in England, registering seven goals and eight assists across 50 appearances in his debut campaign and helping the club lift the FA Cup. However, his influence waned significantly over the second half of the season.
With City reshaping their midfield options this summer following the arrival of Elliot Anderson and apparent interest in Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández, Reijnders looks set to move on.
While interest had previously been shown by European sides including Juventus, Galatasaray, and Nottingham Forest, Al-Qadsiah moved aggressively to meet City’s valuation. The deal will also see the Premier League champions turn a modest profit on the Netherlands international.
