Vinicius won’t join Arsenal

Arsenal look poised to miss out on signing Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid this summer.

The Gunners have earmarked the Brazilian as their prime attacking target, and manager Mikel Arteta has personally spoken with him too.

However, it appears Vinicius could end up staying put. His current contract with Madrid expires in the summer of 2027, as things stand.

Positive talks were held over a contract renewal earlier today, and Madrid have made a proposal closer to the player’s £30m-per-year demands.

Arsenal have made a lucrative contract offer themselves, and now need to play the waiting game to find out what Vinicius decides to do next.

It is more likely that the Brazilian will commit his long-term future to Madrid, thereby ending the Gunners’ long pursuit of his signature.

The news would represent a huge blow for Arsenal, given they have already missed out on landing Morgan Rogers to Chelsea this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola was deemed as an alternative, but the Frenchman has recently agreed personal terms with Liverpool.
