It was always a pretty safe bet that Hogwarts Legacy was going to be a success, but even by Harry Potter standards, it did remarkably well. The game is the third most played single-player release on the PlayStation 5 in terms of hours, so it was little surprise when Warner Bros. ordered a sequel into immediate production (which was a big part of why we never got any DLC).

That next game in the series is also going to be closely connected to the upcoming television adaptation on HBO, which is a risk, given how much fans seemed to enjoy the original story set in an earlier part of Hogwarts history. The good side of that is the fact it should mean we get the game relatively soon, with the hope that the expedience doesn’t affect the final quality.

While we wait, there’s always the original to return to once again, and if you are planning to do so on PC, there’s a download that could make your next playthrough a whole lot cooler.

Hogwarts Legacy Is Still Going Strong

The Harry Potter series has a lot of iconic weapons and items, many of which bestow their users with great power. The Elder Wand is the most obvious example of that, but coming in a close second for many would likely be the Sword of Gryffindor, which presents itself to Harry in his hour of need, while he’s fighting the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets.

As the name suggests, the sword belonged to one of the four founders of Hogwarts, Godric Gryffindor, who also gives his name to the school house. The weapon is goblin made and immensely powerful, so it’s only right that your trip to Hogwarts includes wielding it, if only for a little while.

Over on Curse Forge, you can find the download page for Sword of Gryffindor, a mod which ports a highly detailed model for the sword into the game. Once you claim it, your wand appearance will be changed to that of the sword.

The obvious problem with the download is that you can’t wield it like a traditional melee weapon, but spells flying out of the end of the legendary sword is pretty cool in and of itself.

As with all downloads over on the site, it’s also totally free of charge, so it’s a bit of a no-brainer to download and give it a go for yourself. If you don’t like it, you can always remove the appearance from the customization menu.

There Are Plenty Of Mods For Potter Fans

There are plenty of other mods for Hogwarts Legacy that are worth your consideration if you’re planning a new playthrough on PC. Many add new content, with one of the coolest being the addition of a full Diagon Alley (pictured above). You can also head to the Dungeon of Doom in what is still one of the most popular downloads for the game to date, as well as thousands of new cosmetic options and aesthetic changes, all for free via Curse Forge.
