GTA 6 Official File Size Has Gamers Concerned

It is hard to believe that there are only a few months left to go until the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI. After all, it has been a long road thanks to two delays, and that is not to mention the fact that it has been well over a decade since the last entry, Grand Theft Auto V, was released. However, we are finally on the homestretch, and with pre-orders now secure, all that is left to do is wait.

That being said, there are still some things that Rockstar is keeping us waiting for. Not only are we yet to receive an official gameplay trailer, but the official file size for Grand Theft Auto VI has still not been revealed, leaving console users unsure of how much storage they should clear out for the biggest game of all time.

When it comes to mainstream AAA titles, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III holds the record for having the biggest download size upon launch, needing its players to clear out a whopping 200–300 GB of combined disk space due to shared launcher architecture. So, how will GTA VI compare when it launches this November?

At the time of writing, the download size for Grand Theft Auto VI has not yet been confirmed by Rockstar. However, that has not stopped fans from speculating, with one user over on r/GTA6 predicting that it will be around 200–250 GB to install.

As you can imagine, this prediction soon caused a deluge of comments, with other potential fans coming forward with their own guesses. “Red Dead Redemption 2 takes 150 GB on PC. So, I imagine that this will take at least 50% higher, maybe around 225GB?” One user estimated, however one reply shared an interesting take, saying, “GTA6 will likely require an SSD which will cut down on file size because of less duplicated sizes. So, honestly, I think it’ll be about the same size as RDR2, maybe 140GB-170GB.”

Other fans believe that Rockstar has had plenty of time to make Grand Theft Auto VI an optimized game, with another user sharing, “Honestly, I don’t think it’ll push past 180 GB. At most, probably ~210 GB.” With guesses ranging from 150GB to all the way up to 250GB, it seems as though fans cannot agree on an answer for Grand Theft Auto VIs potential storage. However, as one user put it, “You won’t be playing anything else, so clean the storage out”, and we cannot help but agree.
