Marvel gives Captain America a massive power-up that makes him a godlike figure among demons. The Super-Soldier serum transformed Steve Rogers into the perfect human, with a metabolism that resists fatigue, makes him immune to all diseases, and allows him to fight at maximum efficiency. Captain America also possesses one of the sharpest tactical minds in the Marvel Universe, and his iconic shield expands his versatility even further, as it works as both an offensive and defensive weapon. Although Captain America lacks the overwhelming power of Marvel’s gods and cosmic beings, his complete mastery of every physical and tactical advantage allows him to compete against vastly stronger opponents.
Yet, Steve Rogers stands apart from every other Marvel hero because of his unwavering commitment to his principles, even when those principles place him at odds with governments and fellow heroes alike. Captain America’s leadership comes from humility and the willingness to accept personal sacrifice whenever duty demands it. Steve’s values have earned him the confidence of teammates across generations, from the original Avengers to teams like the Young Avengers and the Champions to ruthless anti-heroes like the Punisher and Deadpool, all of whom view Captain America as the moral compass of the superhero community.
Steve Rogers has always been known as the most virtuous superhero in the Marvel Universe, but few could have expected him to be so pure that he becomes a literal messiah figure.
Captain America Is A Messiah In Hell
Captain America #13; Written By Chip Zdarsky; Art By Ton Lima & Romulo Fajardo Jr
After falling into a coma following his brutal encounter with Red Hulk in New America, Steve Rogers not only finds himself in literal Hell alongside an unmasked Doctor Doom, but he also discovers he’s noticeably stronger than his usual self, and even more powerful than everyone else in Mephisto’s realm. The demon prophet Torvoz believes Steve Rogers is a messiah, and Steve proves he’s worthy of the title by snapping unbreakable chains forged by the original fires of Hell and overpowering enormous demonic entities with the power of divine light.
Time and again, Steve Rogers has placed his principles ahead of personal safety and political convenience ever since he first swore to hold up the ideals that make him Captain America. Steve opposed government overreach during Civil War, which led him to be persecuted by the government and his fellow heroes before being assassinated. Before that, Steve refused to act as the government’s puppet and briefly abandoned his Captain America title, and long after, he stood up to the Serpent of Midgard, reinforcing his status as one of the few Earth-616 heroes permanently worthy of lifting Mjolnir.
Steve Rogers Might Be The World’s Best Weapon Against Dark Supernatural Forces
Captain America Is No Longer Just A Super-Soldier
Captain America seems to have transformed into a being of light beyond the traditional figure of a pure-hearted human hero. Steve Rogers’ moral purity now materializes as literal light that hurts Hell’s corruption. These divine abilities may stem from the nature of Hell itself, meaning Steve likely won’t be able to access them once he awakens from his coma. Still, even if the power boost remains confined to Hell, the experience may change Steve’s relationship with Marvel’s supernatural mythology, as he could retain an unexpected connection to corners of the Marvel Universe usually inhabited by heroes like Ghost Rider and Doctor Strange.
Knowledge gained through this ordeal could permanently reshape how Captain America approaches supernatural threats. Demons, Hell Lords, and mystical entities may now recognize Steve as a mythical hero who has already challenged infernal authority on its own ground. Should even a fraction of those divine gifts remain active outside Hell, Captain America could become one of Earth’s most effective defenders against occult dangers despite lacking conventional magical training. If Steve Rogers makes it out alive, he will carry firsthand experience dealing with the literal embodiments of good and evil.
Should Captain America retain his divine “messiah” powers outside of Hell?
