Pokémon Winds and Waves leaks have really ramped up this week, arguably making this the largest single week for Gen 10 leaks ever (and definitely the largest since the reveal trailer debuted during Pokémon Presents in February). In a short span, we’ve heard of new evolutions for fan-favorites like Pikachu, Lucario, Psyduck, and more. And if you’re a fan of Kanto, then you may have a fun new evolution to look forward to.
This Winds and Waves leak was reposted by CentroLeaks on X, an account that’s become a go-to source for Pokémon enthusiasts, but it originated from IcyBoi33, a Pokémon leaker also on X. As the post mentions, “treat it as a rumor for now.” You can view the post below.
The leak says that Psyduck will be getting a new evolution in Gen 10, and an Ice/Psychic regional variant. This version of Psyduck will get two new regional evolutions, giving it an evolutionary line with three stages now. In other words, no regional Golduck in Wind and Waves, but rather two completely new evolutions, similar to Galarian Meowth evolving into Perrserker rather than a Galarian Persian.
Psyduck has long been a fan-favorite Kanto Pokémon, especially after being featured in the anime as comedic relief. Misty’s Psyduck was often lackluster, prone to headaches, and constantly disappointing her. Pokémon Concierge on Netflix made Psyduck a main character, providing a kind of resurgence for the Gen 1 Water-type. So, on paper, a new evolutioinary line and regional form for Psyduck sounds pretty exciting.
Reactions to the Pokémon Winds and Waves leak, however, were a bit mixed. “I’d like to see that,” reads one of the comments on X. “I’ll freak if we get a regional Psyduck,” reads another.
And while most of the opinions are postitive, some fans have questioned the reliabilty of the leak and others are just straight-up disappointed. “Game Freak trying not to give a Gen 1 Pokémon an Ice type regional form challenge: impossible,” writes one user on X. Another fan states, “This is just to satisfy the ‘Psyduck should have been psychic’ crowd.”
The complaints and criticisms are fair, but the idea of a new Psyduck is still pretty enticing. While it’s just a leak for now, we’ll hopefully find out if this is true or not when more news related to Pokémon Winds and Waves arrives in 2027.
