Majora’s Mask Remake Accidentally Confirmed Early

Official confirmation of the return of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time really was a major moment for the franchise as a whole, as one of the most iconic games in the series is brought back for a new generation. As well as giving nostalgic older fans a chance to relive the glory days, it also should hopefully introduce a wonderful period in gaming to younger players as well.

Though we’ve only been treated to a very brief reveal trailer so far, more should follow in relatively short order, and the fun might not be stopping there either. With the series celebrating its 40th birthday this year, more announcements could be coming down the pipeline, and we may well already have confirmation that Ocarina’s sequel is about to come back as well.

As first reported by CBR, it seems as though Majora’s Mask is getting a Switch 2 remake to follow-up on the release of Ocarina of Time. That news comes thanks to the Japanese Adult Link voice actor for the upcoming Ocarina of Time Remake, Nobuyuki Hiyama, who may have accidentally leaked the existence of the Majora’s Mask remake, after their IMDB page was updated to include the game.

Though that is obviously far from official confirmation from Nintendo themselves, it would logistically make a lot of sense. The original sequel reused a lot of the assets from the first game, and it was also extremely well received by players at the time. That would make it relatively easy for the developer to do the same this time around, and it’s hard to see how it would be anything other than very successful.

Those aren’t the only revelations from the IMDB page for the game either, where it has also seemingly been confirmed that the game is being directed by Mikiharu Oiwa. Oiwa was in charge of the projects for the Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask 3DS remasters, as well as the Link’s Awakening Switch remake, and if true, it would suggest that Studio Grezzo are taking charge once again.

With so many exciting announcements coming out around The Legend of Zelda right now, it really is a better time to be a fan than ever before. We also can’t rule out the return of the normal editions of older games like The Wind Waker HD either, maybe even as part of the Twilight Princess double pack that fans have been asking for.
