Although the future of the Halo franchise is somewhat up in the air after numerous XBOX cancellations, it’s clear that the sci-fi series still has more than a few exciting offerings in store for fans. With the upcoming release of Halo: Campaign Evolved introducing a new generation of players to the origins of its setting, Halo is going back to its roots in more ways than one.

On top of the new gaming release, Halo has another treat in store for its 25th anniversary that will take fans back to one of the most widely beloved eras of the franchise, going even further back than the story of Halo: Combat Evolved​​​​​​.

As announced on the Halo Waypoint website, Halo Studios has recently confirmed that not only will the Halo: The Fall of Reach novel be returning in the form of a full-cast audio drama, but it will also feature the original legendary voice actors from the series when it releases on November 10th of this year.

While more cast members are planned to be announced in the future, so far we know that the project is being produced by Simon & Schuster, while bringing back the voices behind Master Chief, Cortana, and 343 Guilty Spark with the following starring roles:

• Steven Downes (John-117)
• Jen Taylor (Cortana, Dr. Halsey)
• Tim Dadabo (Narrator)

While we’ve already had an audiobook version of the acclaimed Halo: The Fall of Reach novel for quite some time now, the upcoming audio drama is going to be an even more ambitious project that combines a full voice acting cast, music, sound effects, and more to help enhance the experience and add even more immersion.

Fans can expect more than just a retelling of the original story with the audio drama as well, as the new edition of The Fall of Reach will also include entirely new content that wasn’t in the original audiobook or novel itself, but was added in the updated re-releases of the Halo: The Master Chief Omnibus.

While the Halo franchise has always had a long history of extensive novels that offer prequels, retellings, additional context, or even exclusive sequel stories that we never got to play for ourselves, few entries in the series have managed to reach the instantly iconic status of The Fall of Reach.

Offering both the origin story of Master Chief, the Spartan program, and a new perspective on the events that pushed humanity to the brink of extinction in the face of an insurmountable Alien force, The Fall of Reach is an essential piece of Halo lore that any fan of the series should definitely check out if they haven’t already, with the upcoming Halo audio drama easily being the and definitive way to enjoy its gripping narrative.
