The series centers on a young farm boy named Key, who learns he has a powerful dormant ability, known as Tamas, and that he is the son of a legendary Gorotama player with a powerful Tama of her own. He enrolls at Kal Asterock Academy, where students compete in Gorotama, a soccer-inspired sport that allows the use of Tamas. Along with his new friends, Key trains to master his Tama while uncovering the dark secrets of his school.

While the early episodes center around Key and his friends working to take part in official Gorotama matches, the series gradually unfolds far beyond that core concept. During Key’s time at the floating academy, he is introduced to multiple teams and authority figures that play into the series’ larger mystery and conflict. As an epic sports fantasy, Dragon Striker has all the ingredients it needs to grow into one of the biggest cartoons Disney has to offer.
