Inspired by classic Pokémon titles, especially those set in the beloved Hoenn region, Pokémon Legends Delta is a ROM hack set in the Pokémon FireRed universe. Created by Delta Rangers and launched for the first time back in March, players can head back to the Industrial Revolution era in Hoenn’s history as they explore a world where humans lived side-by-side with Pokémon.
However, with some Pokémon still choosing to live wild and on the outskirts of the region, it will be up to you to take on the role of various Pokémon Rangers who are in charge of protecting the natural order as well as Hoenn’s citizens.
In Pokémon Legends Delta, you will meet brand-new protagonists Nolan and Orerick. Nolan is the leader of the Delta division and, as an ancestor of fan-favorite Brendan, he is known as one of the strongest trainers in Hoenn. As for Orerick, he is a prodigy at battling Pokémon but finds his life split in two as the son of Mr Stone., the lead developer of the Hoenn expansion project.
However, despite originally being strangers, both Nolan and Orerick find themselves having to work together after Hoenn scientists discover the existence of a meteor emitting a strange energy that causes the Pokémon affected to begin acting more aggressively. Together, the pair embark on a journey to Sootopolis where they must work out the origins of the meteor, help the Pokémon, and save the citizens of Hoenn.
Perhaps most exciting about Pokémon Legends Delta is the addition of a two-player campaign, which will allow you to embark on your journey as either Nolan and Orerick and, of course, this will also inspire multiple playthroughs. Not only that, but this incredible ROM hack also includes regional variants including Vigorking and Skarmony, a combat system based on Gen 8, Mega Evolutions inspired by Pokémon Legends: Z-A, as well as much-needed quality-of-life improvements.
Additionally, you can check out both the demo trailer and OST trailers for Pokémon Legends Delta on Delta Rangers official YouTube page, giving you an insight into just how much work has gone into this fan-made ROM hack.
Whilst we wait for the launch of Pokémon Winds and Waves, which is set to launch some time in 2027, Pokémon Legends Delta is the perfect game to get stuck into, especially as it is free to download right now courtesy of a public beta.
