Diablo 4 Free Download Officially Announced Ahead Of New Season

It’s an exciting time for fans of Diablo, as Diablo 4 officially begins a new era at the end of this month. Diablo 4‘s Age of Hatred story arc kicked off alongside the game when it launched back in 2023, and ran for several years and multiple expansions. This story concluded with the Lord of Hatred DLC, meaning the action RPG’s incoming new season starts an entirely new story.

Blizzard officially announced that the Diablo 4 saga will continue on June 30 with the Season of Death Awakening, which certainly doesn’t sound like a tiptoe through the tulips. The story involves ruptures which have formed as the result of dark rituals conducted throughout Sanctuary, and it’s up to you to sort it all out. There’ll be new enemies to slay, of course, and new loot to find — all the standard Diablo stuff we’ve come to expect.

“You will encounter three types of Pandemonium Ruptures,” Blizzard teases. “Kill the guardians around Death’s Head Idols, creating an open Rupture and casting a ritual ring. The longer you keep the Rupture open, the more rewards you’ll earn. Killing monsters and closing Tears will help keep it open. Rupture Goblins can also appear anywhere, opening additional Ruptures.”

The new season will also coincide with a few new promos to try and entice new or lapsed players. Most notably, from June 30 to July 7, all Diablo 4 players on all platforms will be able to play the Warlock class for free up until level 25. Your progress will, of course, carry into the full game if you decide to pick up the Lord of Hatred DLC.

Blizzard is also doing another Overwatch X Diablo crossover event. However, where the last event saw Diablo-themed items come to Overwatch, this new event will do the opposite. When the new season kicks off on June 30, players will be able to earn Eye of the Overwatch currency from elite and champion monsters, which can then earn you cosmetics inspired by Overwatch characters like Reinhardt, Genji, Reaper, Mercy, and Kiriko.

On the whole, it looks like there’s a lot to look forward to as Diablo 4 continues its journey. Be sure to mark June 30 in your calendars and give the Warlock class a try in time for the new season.
