42 Years Later, Huge Masters Of The Universe Character Makes Their Live-Action Debut

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Masters of the Universe (2026)!The new Masters of the Universe movie brings a plethora of Mattel’s characters to live-action, and it includes a long-awaited live-action debut for a franchise star. The film marks Prince Adam’s return to movie theaters, with Nicholas Galitzine transforming into He-Man nearly 40 years after Dolph Lundgren did so.

As a second chance to bring the Mattel fantasy universe to live-action, 2026’s Masters of the Universe made sure to give fans as many familiar characters as director Travis Knight could fit into the nearly two-and-a-half-hour runtime. This included bringing back key figures like Teela, Man at Arms, Skeletor, and Evil-Lyn, who were in the 1987 original film.

The reboot didn’t stop there, as Masters of the Universe includes multiple characters who were not in the first movie. This ranges from He-Man’s Eternia allies like Fisto and Ram-Man, to his Eternia parents, King Randor and Queen Marlena, and to secondary villains like Trap-Jaw. Even the giant green tiger known as Battle Cat is featured, but there’s another live-action debut that is the biggest of them all.

As seen in Masters of the Universe‘s post-credits scene, She-Ra enters the franchise. He-Man’s lost twin sister makes a cameo, and while her face is concealed, the brief look the 2026 film offers of The Princess of Power marks the first time she’s ever appeared in a live-action project.

She-Ra Makes Her Live-Action Debut In 2026’s Masters Of The Universe

Since being created in 1984, She-Ra has had no shortage of adventures. She’s appeared in comics and headlined her own animated series for Netflix, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which ran for five seasons. But despite her popularity, Adora has had to wait until 2026 to make her live-action debut.

She was not featured in 1987’s Masters of the Universe, and there are no indications that she was ever even considered to factor into the plot. For the majority of the 2026 film, it appears that audiences will get another live-action Masters of the Universe adaptation that completely ignores The Princess of Power. The film doesn’t acknowledge her existence until the credits scene.

The actress lucky enough to forever hold the crown as the first person to play She-Ra in live-action is Lauren Saliu. The actress only had credited roles in shorts before playing a significant part in She-Ra’s historical debut as a member of Masters of the Universe‘s cast.

While 2026’s Masters of the Universe gets to claim She-Ra’s live-action debut, it could have happened a few years earlier. Amazon has been developing a live-action She-Ra series since 2021, with Heidi Schreck hired to write it in 2024. If the series had come together faster, Adora’s first live-action appearance would have come in a much more prominent way.

She-Ra’s live-action debut may only last for a few seconds, but the decision to include her in one of the post-credits scenes is a clear sign to audiences that she’s going to be a central part of the franchise’s future. That is, so long as Masters of the Universe‘s box office delivers strong enough results for Amazon MGM to feel comfortable making additional entries.

Masters of the Universe 2 is set up to include a story about She-Ra returning home to Eternia and reuniting with her family. It would be shocking for the filmmakers and studio to ignore this tease. The Princess of Power will certainly be one of the main characters in a Masters of the Universe sequel, as Knight told ScreenRant in an exclusive interview:

If we’re to be so lucky to tell another story in this universe, [She-Ra] would play a very, very big role in another movie.

Should one come to pass, Amazon is expected to find a bigger star to take on the role. Sydney Sweeney, Hailee Steinfeld, Anya Taylor-Joy, Emma Mackey, Kathryn Newton, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Elle Fanning are but a few actresses who could be looked at thanks to their ages, abilities, and star power. If it all goes well, Masters of the Universe could be the first of many live-action She-Ra appearances.
