The three best shows to watch this weekend on Netflix include a Taylor Sheridan Western, a groundbreaking docuseries, and a new 3-part crime drama. While top streaming hits like The Four Seasons and Nemesis continue to dominate viewership charts worldwide, these three newly added series are the very best to binge on Netflix this weekend, June 5–7, 2026.
Netflix will continue its rollout of exciting new streaming releases this month, including season 2 of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender and season 3 of the popular reality series America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. In the meantime, consider these three Netflix shows as must-watches this weekend, two of which only consist of three episodes and are perfect to binge in one night.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves
Lawmen: Bass Reeves arrived on Netflix earlier this week for the first time ever and instantly became a streaming hit, surging to the #6 spot worldwide and in the United States. Executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, the mastermind behind neo-Western franchises like Yellowstone and Landman, Lawmen: Bass Reeves chronicles the rise of one of the first black deputy U.S. Marshals in American history. 2-time Emmy nominee David Oyelowo produced and stars in the series as its titular protagonist in one of his career-best performances.
Throughout eight episodes, Lawmen: Bass Reeves displays how Bass Reeves got the rare opportunity to become a member of law enforcement in the post-Civil War American Old West and grew to become one of the most accomplished lawmen in U.S. history. With its surprisingly stacked cast, including Dennis Quaid, Garret Hedlund, Barry Pepper, and Donald Sutherland in one of his final performances, along with its high Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 93%, Lawmen: Bass Reeves is worth watching this weekend on Netflix.
Michael Jackson: The Verdict
Currently, the #1 most-watched show on the platform, Netflix’s groundbreaking docuseries Michael Jackson: The Verdict is a must-watch this weekend. Featuring firsthand accounts from a variety of personnel directly involved in Jackson’s 2005 world-famous trial, including jurors, prosecutors, and the like, Michael Jackson: The Verdict offers a fresh and unprecedented perspective on Jackson’s notorious yet alleged scandal involving inappropriate conduct with minors.
While Jackson was found not guilty on all 10 counts in 2005, including child sexual abuse and molestation, public interest remains high about Jackson’s alleged relationship with multiple children, some of whom he admitted to sleeping with in the same bed. Truly one of the most bizarre media frenzies of the 21st century, Michael Jackson: The Verdict examines the subject more than 20 years later in this 3-part docuseries that can easily be watched from start to finish in just one sitting. Interestingly, the series earned a Rotten Tomatoes score of 80% compared to its RT audience score of 7%, which is virtually the opposite of the recent biopic Michael, the second highest-grossing movie of the year so far.
The Witness
The Witness has become an overnight streaming sensation on Netflix following its release on Thursday, June 4, currently surging to the #2 spot worldwide. Earning a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, the 3-part crime series chronicles the true crime story of Rachel Nickell, who was murdered on Wimbledon Common in 1992, a brutal act of violence that was only witnessed by her 3-year-old son, Alex. The 3-part series portrays the aftermath on Alex, the massive grief experienced by Alex’s father, André, and the flawed police investigation.
Netflix’s New 3-Part Crime Thriller Is An Easy One-Night Weekend Binge
Netflix’s new 3-part crime thriller series is an easy one-night binge this weekend following its world premiere on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Interestingly, Netflix also released the new documentary film The Murder of Rachel Nickell earlier this week to serve as a companion piece to The Witness. While both provide accurate overviews of the real-life events surrounding the murder and the killer being brought to justice, the documentary is firmly rooted in the facts, while The Witness enjoys some creative liberties for the sake of dramatization. In any regard, The Witness is the best show to watch this weekend on Netflix and can easily be watched in just one sitting.
