June 2026 Video Game Releases: Full List And Highlights

Although summer months can tend to be a bit slower for major video game releases, an exciting new title from Square Enix, the first major Star Fox release in years, and two new ports for one of the best games in recent memory mean June 2026 is not one to ignore. EA’s UFC series and Dead or Alive are back this month for fighting fans. There are also numerous smaller titles, remakes, and ports coming this month that may be more your speed if you need to give your wallet a break between bigger releases throughout the year.

Anyone looking for a new multiplayer option might be interested in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, a tactical FPS set during the eponymous war. Or if you prefer more light-hearted multiplayer experiences, Frog Sqwd may be your speed, as it seems more in the vein of something like R.E.P.O. or Content Warning. If you happen to be a Switch 2 owner, it’s nice to see more games being released for the platform to help justify that possibly increasing price tag.

The Adventures Of Elliot Is An Exciting New Action RPG From Square Enix

Elliot walks through the streets in The Adventures of Elliot The Millennium Tales.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales may, at first glance, seem like it’s aping a lot from the Legend of Zelda series. However, once you get past the suspiciously similar naming conventions and the fact that both series star a magical princess and a swordsman with questionable fashion choices, there is more depth to Square Enix’s new Action RPG than simply ripping off one of Nintendo’s most popular franchises. After playing the game’s free demo, I was happy to see the inclusion of more classical RPG elements.

The game allows you to upgrade your equipment, buy a wider range of useful items, and has some unique combat mechanics that separate this from your classic 2D Zelda games like A Link to the Past. The game also includes some minor platforming elements, though I was thankful to find they were somewhat forgiving, given that jumps can be slightly hard to gauge in Square’s 2D-HD presentation style. That said, I am happy to give up precise platforming for what the visual style adds to the game.

Although I’ve only played the prologue so far, the game seems like it’s going for a rich story with characters that develop over time, including the protagonist. It’s worth mentioning here that another way Elliot differs from Link is that he never shuts up, but he’s luckily likable enough for it not to be too much of an issue. I’m looking forward to the game’s full release on June 18, 2026. If the game sounds like it might be up your alley, I recommend checking out the demo before its full release.

Nintendo Launches Its First Star Fox Game In A Decade

It’s been 10 years since the largely underwhelming Star Fox Zero was released for the equally underwhelming Wii U. That made it understandably exciting when Nintendo announced they would be bringing back the series with Star Fox for the Switch 2 on June 25, 2026. That said, Fox McCloud’s latest outing might not please everyone, mainly because it will be all too familiar to many players.

Instead of being an original entry in the series, Star Fox is actually a remake of Star Fox 64. This makes it the second remake of the game, as it was also remade for the Nintendo 3DS. There are a few new features courtesy of the Switch 2, like being able to use the Joy-Con 2 in mouse mode for more precise aiming. The game will also feature fully-rendered cutscenes that are unique to this version, and show off the Star Fox crew’s new looks and add some depth to the story. Still, $50 for a few changes seems steep.

Final Fantasy 7 Is Reborn One More Time

In my review of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, I gave it a perfect score, and my mind remains unchanged. This is a massive action RPG with stunning visuals and satisfying combat that retells one of gaming’s most well-known stories with added depth in both its plot and characters. If you have been holding out for this game to come to an Xbox or Nintendo console, then the time is finally here. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released for the Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 on June 3, 2026.

Before the release of the Switch 2, I would have been nervous if the console could handle a title as demanding as FF7 Rebirth. Since seeing its ability to run games like Cyberpunk 2077, I’m no longer worried, and wouldn’t let that concern stop you from experiencing this masterpiece for yourself if you are a Switch 2 owner. This is a title I think any RPG fan should check out, so I’m happy to see it will soon be widely available.

While the previous three titles are my picks for the most exciting June 2026 releases, that doesn’t mean they are the only notable ones coming out. Accounting for taste, players who prefer a more grounded experience may be more excited about a sports title like EA Sports UFC 6 or one based on true historical events like Hell Let Loose: Vietnam. I may be most excited about what Square Enix has to offer this month, but there are plenty of games to choose from. There is a massive variety of games, but they all likely share one thing in common. Their developers are probably pretty pleased about the GTA 6 delay.
