The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s Geralt is arguably the most iconic depiction of the beloved protagonist out there, despite there being several excellent adaptations of Andrzej Sapkowski’s original character over the years. CD Projekt Red’s depiction of Geralt has captured the hearts of gamers worldwide, and hype around the next game is at an all-time high.
Fans have been waiting with bated breath for Geralt’s official return this year with the potential announcement of the heavily rumored new DLC, which is reportedly supposed to bridge the gap between CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Witcher 4. With The Witcher 4 not planned to release any sooner than 2027, however, there’s huge demand for new content.
Luckily, fans can mark their calendars this week for Wednesday, May 13, as CD Projekt Red’s Geralt is making a triumphant return in a brand-new sequel.
Dark Horse Comics will be launching the highly anticipated final installment of the Blood Stone series this week, and fans of the franchise will definitely want to check this new release out. The Witcher: Blood Stone is a four-part series from Dark Horse set in the world of CD Projekt Red’s video games and featuring the studio’s depiction of Geralt of Rivia.
In issue #4, “Sorrow and guilt linger in the wake of the massacre, but not all lives are lost,” and Geralt makes a final return to the dwarven caves to prevent further tragedy. Issues #1–3 are currently available to purchase at most local comic book stores and select online retailers, and all four issues are typically available for just $5. Blood Stone is written Daniel Freedman (Birdking, Kali, Raiders) and illustrated by Pius Bak (Slightly Exaggerated, Godfather of Hell).
The highly awaited Blood Stone series finale officially drops this week, and it’s one fans of CD Projekt Red’s Geralt do not want to miss. It’s bound to scratch that Witcher itch while we wait for official word of the potential Witcher 3 DLC and the 2027/2028 launch of The Witcher 4.
Further, if you’re looking for an actual game to play while you wait for the next big Witcher announcement, the highly anticipated ronin-inspired tabletop RPG, Path of Destiny, is officially available to claim now for just around $100 USD at select retailers such as Asmodee. This is another full standalone Witcher adventure that hardcore fans do not want to sleep on, and it features many of the iconic characters players have grown to love, such as Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, Triss, Vesemir, and Jaskier.
While there’s still no official confirmation that a new The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt DLC is going to happen this year and it’s just rumors and hearsay at the moment, there’s plenty to keep fans busy until the eventual release of The Witcher 4.
