Earlier this week we were treated to the news of an exciting collaboration. For the first time, the worlds of free open-world gacha game Wuthering Waves will be colliding with the Cyberpunk 2077–inspired anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, in an exciting crossover which will see some of our beloved Edgerunners make their way into Wuthering Waves’ Solaris City.
In the announcement shared on the official Wuthering Waves Twitter account, we get to see how the world of Wuthering Waves will suit our Edgerunners as Lucy, Rebecca, and even David make their way to the alternate universe. With Rebecca and Lucy set to become playable characters, it seems as though David will have a bit more of a passive role, but nevertheless, Lucy is still hoping to go to the moon with him. Here come the tears.
“Good morning, Solaris!” The official post read. “Come, wander with me through the ever-unceasing dream.” The trailer gives us our first glimpse at a 3D Rebecca and Lucy, with Rebecca sporting a gun that is even bigger than her, whilst Lucy wields her iconic monowire. The pair look incredible, and it seems as though one of them will be up for grabs for absolutely free.
As with any gacha game, building your team will see you need to gamble your way to some powerful characters. As such, you will be expected to bet against the odds when it comes to adding Lucy to your team. However, Wuthering Waves’ team has revealed that players will be able to get their hands on Rebecca for absolutely free as an exclusive 5-star Resonator Rebecca. With the tagline “C’mon, need to hit somethin’!”, it seems as though Rebecca would make an excellent addition to your team, and you will not have to gamble to get her.
As such, fans over on r/cyberpunkgame reacted to the news of both the collaboration and Rebecca’s free inclusion, and it seems as though this collaboration is already winning hearts.
“Hell yeah,” one comment read. “Too bad they’re not making David a character, or Johnny, but that’s how it rolls in these collabs I guess.” This is true, but there is no denying that Rebecca made one hell of an impact when she was first introduced in 2022’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, with the same being said for Lucy.
Over on Twitter, the same sentiment replied with one user sharing, “FOR FREE? I love you, guys,” alongside a GIF of Rebecca in action in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. “Holy sh*t,” another said. “You guys give characters I want for free? “Now I have leeway for my eddies to get Lucy.”
There is no official release date for the Wuthering Waves x Cyberpunk: Edgerunners collaboration, but with the official Twitter account telling us to stay tuned for more, we can expect it to be one hell of an event.
