IPL 2026 [WATCH]: Mitchell Marsh launches Bhuvneshwar Kumar out of the park with a gigantic 102 meter six in RCB vs LSG match

The 23rd match of the IPL 2026 season brought a high-voltage clash to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosted the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Wednesday. In front of a sea of red and gold, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar won the toss and elected to field, a decision that proved fruitful on a surface that offered unexpected assistance to the bowlers. While the Bengaluru fans were eager to see a run-fest, the first innings became a narrative of disciplined bowling versus raw power, highlighted by an early moment of absolute carnage from the Australian powerhouse Mitchell Marsh.

Mitchell Marsh smashes Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a colossal 102 meter six out of the stadium

The highlight of the Powerplay arrived in the third over when Marsh decided to take the attack to the veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar. After a couple of tight deliveries, Bhuvneshwar attempted to deceive the batter with his signature knuckleball. However, the length was slightly short, sitting up perfectly for Marsh.

With a base as solid as a rock and a swing fuelled by pure muscle, Marsh cleared his front leg and launched a thunderous pull shot over deep square leg. The ball didn’t just clear the ropes; it sailed into the Bengaluru night sky, eventually coming to rest on the roof of the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Measured at a staggering 102 meters, the hit left even Bhuvneshwar Kumar stunned. At that moment, it seemed Marsh was on track for a massive score, helping LSG reach 22/0 by the end of the over. Unfortunately for the visitors, the Bison’s charge was cut short at 40 runs by a deceptive Krunal Pandya delivery that Marsh chopped back onto his stumps, ending a promising 32-ball stay.

LSG put up a modest total against RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium track

Despite the early fireworks from Marsh, the Lucknow Super Giants struggled to find any sustained rhythm. The Chinnaswamy pitch, usually a graveyard for bowlers, played a few tricks as RCB’s bowling unit executed their plans to perfection. LSG was eventually bowled out for a modest 146 in exactly 20 overs, a total far below the ground’s average.

The LSG middle order collapsed under pressure. Captain Rishabh Pant had a forgettable outing, scoring just 1 run off 6 balls before falling to Bhuvneshwar, who redeemed his earlier expensive over with figures of 3/27. The pace attack was led by Rasikh Salam, who was the pick of the bowlers with a sensational spell of 4/24, dismantling the lower order including the wickets of Mukul Choudhary (39) and Avesh Khan.

Apart from Marsh’s 40 and Ayush Badoni’s gritty 38 off 24 balls, no other LSG batter could cross the 15-run mark. Even big hitters like Nicholas Pooran (1) and Abdul Samad (0) failed to fire. Josh Hazlewood provided the initial squeeze, conceding just 20 runs in his four overs, leaving LSG with a mountain to climb in the second innings to defend a total that looked well below par for the defending champions’ home turf.
