I know a skirt over leggings can sound like a middle-school throwback, but the current version is much cleaner. The leggings are matte and full length, the skirt has structure or texture, and the shoe is substantial enough to make the layers look intentional.

This is not a list of ten nearly identical black-skirt outfits. We are using plaid, denim, corduroy, pleats, leather-look texture and cargo shapes so each formula solves a different fall mood.
