Warning: Spoilers for The End of Oak Street

The End of Oak Street is a summer blockbuster, offering audiences a fun mix of sci-fi and Amblin-style 80s vibes with dinosaurs at the heart of the story. Dinosaurs are arguably underused in movies. Besides Jurassic Park and The Land Before Time, casual moviegoers may struggle to name other movies featuring prehistoric creatures.

Other films do exist, though they aren’t as mainstream. Primitive War, for example, offers an intense, modern dinosaur adventure set in Vietnam. 65 stars Adam Driver as a space pilot who crashes onto a planet surrounded by man-eating reptiles. The End of Oak Street introduces dinosaurs to an idyllic suburb. The movie stars Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway as Gregg and Denise Platt as prehistoric life mysteriously arrives in the neighborhood.

One of the 2026 movie’s greatest strengths is its selection of creatures, which are very different from usual. The list of dinosaurs in The End of Oak Street is impressive. It was a bold choice not to include famous dinosaurs like the Tyrannosaurus Rex or Velociraptor. Nevertheless, it gives the roster a unique flavor and introduces some fantastic creatures we’ve never seen on the silver screen before.

It’s tough to identify every dinosaur in The End of Oak Street because they are never explicitly named in the movie. Still, many of the predators are recognizable and just as formidable as anything you’d find in Jurassic Park. The Platt family risks becoming dinosaur food many times in The End of Oak Street, but here are the most dangerous creatures in the movie that are a constant threat.

Spinosaurus

Fans of Jurassic Park III will immediately recognize the Spinosaurus as it appears in The End of Oak Street. Its design is quite similar to the Jurassic Park creature, and enthusiasts will point out that the tail should likely be wider and more paddle-like. The Spinosaurus was presumably adept in the water, though we don’t see any evidence of that in The End of Oak Street.

Instead, our heroes encounter the Spinosaurus, complete with its iconic sailfin, on the road as they drive. They startle it in the car, though they are unable to escape as the wheels dig into the ground. We don’t see the Spinosaurus eating anyone, though it has the strength to push a car with two people inside through the front of a house. It relentlessly attacks the broken vehicle until it catches on fire.

We get a great view of the Spinosaurus later on when it has a drink from a garden swimming pool. It’s a huge dinosaur in The End of Oak Street, with formidable strength, though it doesn’t seem to relentlessly hunt its prey. It’s certainly a dangerous predator, but not as threatening as a certain other large dinosaur on this list.

Coelophysis

The Coelophysis is The End of Oak Street’s answer to the Velociraptor. The Jurassic Park movies always highlight the Raptor’s intelligence, and it’s a trait that’s evolved with the franchise. The End of Oak Street doesn’t paint the Coelophysis in the same light, though the similarities are obvious.

The Coelophysis is among the first dinosaurs the Platt family encounters. At first, they seem like scavengers as we see one pushing over a bin for scraps. Gregg quickly realizes the dinosaur is aggressive as it starts to give chase. One thing immediately apparent with Coelophysis is its mobility. We see our heroes escape several large creatures because they are too big to enter houses, and the Coelophysis does not have that problem.

Its smaller size doesn’t make it any less threatening. Several scenes in The End of Oak Street show these smaller predators eating people. One particularly shocking moment also shows a Coelophysis leaping into the air and biting a victim’s head on the way down. These smaller dinosaurs may not be as much of a spectacle as the larger predators, but only a fool would downplay them because of their stature.

Allosaurus

The trailers cleverly hid many of the dinosaurs featured in The End of Oak Street. However, the one big reveal in all the pre-release material was the mighty Allosaurus. It’s easy to draw comparisons to the Tyrannosaurus Rex or Indominus, and this aggressive Allosaurus is just as deadly as the king of dinosaurs ever was.

The Allosaurus is the apex predator in The End of Oak Street, and a threat our heroes are utterly unequipped to deal with. In fact, Allosaurus is so fearsome that it shrugs off any attempts to slow it down as if they were minor inconveniences. The Allosaurus can comfortably keep up with running humans. It has rows of intimidating, sharp teeth, but we also see that those mighty jaws are not for show.

The End of Oak Street doesn’t shy away from some surprisingly grisly deaths. We see the Allosaurus effortlessly devour one victim, picking them up by the legs. The dinosaur drops its prey onto the floor before finishing them off. The Allosaurus is such a major threat in The End of Oak Street because the survivors have no way to defend against it. The movie isn’t set in a dinosaur theme park with countermeasures, and the Platts aren’t soldiers. If we ever get a sequel, the Allosaurus is formidable enough to reclaim its throne at the top of the food chain.
