The Gentlemen

The Gentlemen season 2 remains one of Netflix’s most-viewed series heading into the weekend and is poised to be one of the platform’s biggest streaming hits of the month. The series was created by Guy Ritchie (MobLand, Young Sherlock), who developed the series based on his 2019 movie of the same name that featured a star-studded cast (Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farrell, Jeremy Strong), and is also available to stream on Netflix. The series follows Theo James’ Eddie Horniman, the inheritor of a large weed empire.

That said, The Gentlemen season 2 is actually more critically acclaimed, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 82% compared to season 1’s 75% rating. The Perfect Lie

It’s the perfect time to dive into Netflix’s latest psychological thriller series, The Perfect Lie, which just arrived on the platform on Thursday, September 10. After just one day on the streamer, The Perfect Lie has become an overnight streaming sensation, shooting up to the #3 spot on Netflix’s worldwide viewership chart. The series is adapted from the 2004 bestselling novel The Dinner Club by Dutch author Saskia Noort and follows a group of adult friends whose lavish lifestyle comes to a halt when a member of their group dies in a house fire.

Filmed mostly in the Netherlands, specifically in the affluent region of Bergen, this 7-part Dutch series consists of only seven episodes, each with an individual runtime between 47 and 62 minutes, creating a total runtime of just over 6 hours. The Perfect Lie follows Karen, played by Loes Haverfort, who moves to Bergen with her husband and daughter and quickly becomes the newest member of an elite friend group referred to as The Dinner Club. Karen thinks she’s found the life she’s been waiting for when an unthinkable tragedy turns everything on its head and opens up a widespread investigation, revealing secrets, hidden truths, and betrayals.

Crew Girl

Crew Girl is the best new show to binge-watch on Netflix this weekend thanks to its familiar coming-of-age tone and its intriguing high school sports dynamic. Just hours after its premiere on Thursday, September 10, Crew Girl is the #2 most-watched show worldwide and will hope to dethrone The Gentlemen for the #1 spot over the coming days. Crew Girl tells the story of Teagan, played by Miku Martineau, who is forced to leave her life behind with her mother, Ella, played by Jessica Paré, after her dad is caught committing financial fraud.

Teagan and Ella move to a quaint New England coastal town, known as Eagle’s Cove, Massachusetts, where Teagan lands on her feet and joins her new elite prep school’s competitive crew team. As the only girl rower on the squad, Teagan has to navigate how to work with her new teammates and try to separate the typical high-school and romantic drama from the pursuit of victory out on the water.
