Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has confirmed that he pushed for a new challenge away from the Blues this summer.

The Danish ace was a fringe player for the Blues last term, and he played second fiddle to Robert Sanchez for most of the campaign.

As a result, he pushed for an exit during the summer transfer window and was eventually loaned to sister club Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

Speaking to reporters, Jorgensen said that he was eager to leave Chelsea from January and he is delighted with his time at Strasbourg.

He said: “Ever since January, I knew I wanted to switch. I wanted to play every weekend and show what I can do. It means an awful lot. I’m very happy about it.”

Jorgensen recently returned to the Denmark national team fold. He played the full 90 minutes of their impressive victory over Wales in the Nations League.

The 24-year-old has benefitted from regular playing time in France and could seek a permanent move to Strasbourg at the end of the current campaign.
