I love a big Nordstrom Anniversary Sale roundup as much as the next girl, but I do not need 60 random things in my cart. This year, I wanted to shop the sale like I was building a fall wardrobe from scratch: fewer pieces, one clear color story and enough outfit combinations to make every purchase feel intentional.

So instead of another endless list, I narrowed the sale down to a 15-piece fall capsule wardrobe. The palette is black and ink, oatmeal and cream, espresso and cognac, faded olive, plus one ditzy-blue floral accent. Every color repeats somewhere else in the capsule, which means the coat works with the trousers, the suede bag works with every shoe and even the printed scarf has a job to do.

The result is more than 25 realistic fall outfits without padding the list with near-duplicates.
