While Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon have introduced several of George R.R. Martin’s many dragons from the original A Song of Ice and Fire and Fire & Blood novels, the new mobile strategy game from WB Boston, Dragonfire, has taken dragon creation and lore to the next level. Dragonfire features a constantly updated lineup of originally designed dragons that are completely unique to the game, each with their own individual stories, backgrounds, and styles, as well as iconic and well-established dragons from House of the Dragon and Fire & Blood.

Every week since launch, Dragonfire has announced brand-new additions to their dragon roster across all rarities (i.e., Rare, Epic, or Legendary), as well as across all breeds (i.e., Champion, Hunter, Sentinel, and Warrior). With the most expansive variety of dragons so far in the Game of Thrones universe, the game is worth checking out if not just to see these distinct and incredible designs alone.

Tessarion: The Blue Queen

Tessarion: The Blue Queen is among the first unique new dragons introduced to the roster after Dragonfire‘s launch, and she will be quite familiar to longtime fans of Fire & Blood and House of the Dragon viewers. An Epic Champion, Tessarion is as beautiful in the game as she is on screen, featuring the iconic cobalt glass sheen she’s famous for.

While her fate is not yet known in the HBO series and I will avoid spoilers from the book here, Tessarion the Blue Queen is currently somewhere near Tumbleton where Daeron is being held as a ward to Ormund Hightower. Both Tessarion and Daeron play a central role in the Battle of Tumbleton, which is expected to play out in House of the Dragon in the season finale this weekend, August 9, 2026.

Crimson: The Bloodscale Terror

Crimson: The Bloodscale Terror is a Legendary Hunter in Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, meaning he “excels at dismantling enemies over time” and “[relies] on powerful fire attacks and debilitating effects to keep foes off balance, lowering enemy defenses, slowing their reactions, or reducing their offensive power.”

Crimson is described with a unique history and personality that highlights a relentless hunger to satiate an “unyielding itch.” “Crimson once demolished a tower, unleashing fury upon a horde of rats within. The villagers, who once trembled at his shadow, now dance in his wake.” He’s styled in a fitting manner that matches his name, with crimson scales and an almost opalescent glimmer.

Malachite: The Green Warden

As with Crimson, Malachite: The Green Warden is designed in a color scheme befitting his name, and while he’s still a Legendary dragon, unlike Crimson, he is of the Sentinel breed. Sentinels in Dragonfire serve in Tactical Support roles, specializing in “healing, buffs, and battlefield control.”

Malachite is equipped with two massive cranial horns that are extremely foreboding, with shimmering green scales and blood-red glowing eyes. According to his official description, “Malachite’s roar is a guardian’s cry, a sound that ensures the ancient forest remains untouched by the greed of men.”

While the descriptor is intentionally vague, “the ancient forest” could imply Malachite had some connection to the Haunted Forest, the immense forest beyond the Wall that served as a home to the Children of the Forest, giants, and other ancient beings.

Starshower: The Wishkeeper

Starshower: The Wishkeeper is perhaps one of the most stunning and mysterious of the original dragons introduced in Dragonfire. Starshower serves as a beacon of hope and safety as opposed to a dragon that’s feared.

“First seen during a summer when the heavens turned restless… as a thousand meteors streaked across the sky, smallfolk fell to their knees in terror, believing the Seven had loosed their judgement upon the world. Yet, from that blazing rain descended Starshower, wings aglow with embers like falling stars.”

From then on, Starshower “circled watchfully above the countryside, each sweep of her wings scattering the meteors harmlessly into the distant sea,” and ever since, she’s protected the realm of men. Listed as an Epic Sentinel, Starshower can only be unlocked by completing the Shadow of the Greens campaign in Dragonfire.

Venator: The Shadow Of The Wilds

Venator: The Shadow of the Wilds is a Legendary Warrior, which are Dragonfire’s Frontline Offense units and are hands-down the biggest damage dealers in addition to “[amplifying] the entire army’s offensive potential.” If you’re planning out for a better offensive strategy, the Warrior breed of dragons in Dragonfire can make your armies much more formidable if positioned strategically, “[ensuring] that battles are short, brutal, and in [your] favor.”

Venator is said to have “[emerged] from an egg dark as night, veined with molten lava [and] became the guardian of the forest, mastering the laws of hunt and survival.” With beautiful purplish glowing scales and a crown of curved horns around his skull and a massive dewlap on his chin, Venator holds one of the most stunning designs in the game.

Shadowrend: The Eclipse Incarnate

A personal favorite due to it’s fearsome crown of horns that jut out along Shadowrend’s neck, little is known about The Eclipse Incarnate outside its dark appearance. With a relatively vague description, much is left to the imagination with Shadowrend, which makes him all that more intriguing. Shadowrend is a Rare Warrior whose “presence is a darkness that inspires, a shadow that leaves its mark on all who dare gaze upon it.”

Moondancer: The Silver Blade

Compared to Shadowrend, Moondancer: The Silver Blade has a relatively extensive backstory and will be another familiar addition to the roster, though she was only just announced earlier this week on August 3. Moondancer is another Legendary Warrior who fans will recognize as Baela’s “slender, swift, and silver-green” companion from House of the Dragon.

Moondancer serves as “a dragon of quick turns and flashing wings, more blade than hammer in the open sky,” and while she isn’t quite as big as the others, Dragonfire‘s design arguably brings her to life even more so than the show. In terms of strategy, Moondancer reduces incoming damage by stacking buffs and building toward dealing massive damage in the endgame “[excelling] in extended fights where she can safely build stacks and leverage her durability and scaling damage.”

Antares: The Starless Knight

Much like Daemon’s Caraxes, Antares is a serpentine dragon with a long, snake-like neck who “once took under his wing a dragonrider so bereft of honor he was dubbed the Starless Knight.” Antares has shimmering scales that “shine with the light of a thousand stars,” and serves as a Rare Hunter.

The Starless Knight in question is an intriguing piece of Dragonfire lore, and while there’s no clear connection to established canon in Fire & Blood, Game of Thrones, or House of the Dragon, the reference raises interesting questions about a potential dishonored dragonrider of Valyrian descent in the shared universe.

Shadowsong: The Blazing Conductor

Yet another serpentine-type dragon, Shadowsong: The Blazing Conductor’s description implies a fascinating connection to one of George R.R. Martin’s more mysterious dragon concepts: the idea of dragons “singing.” While Fire & Blood never explicitly describes dragons producing melodic songs, the lore repeatedly associates them with ancient Valyrian rituals, spoken incantations, and music used to calm or commune with the beasts.

House of the Dragon expanded on this idea with Daemon’s High Valyrian song to Vermithor, suggesting music played a meaningful role in the bond between dragons and their riders. Shadowsong appears to build upon that foundation, imagining a dragon whose very voice carries a musical quality, blending Martin’s subtle hints about Valyrian dragonlore with an original interpretation that fits within Dragonfire‘s mythology.

Vaeldra: The Beacon Of Bravery

Easily one of the most badass and original designs of all the dragons in Dragonfire, Vaeldra is a standout dragon that serves as an Epic Warrior “whose courage is as vast as the sea, and whose roar alone could quell a storm’s fury.” It’s implied by the design that Vaeldra is absolutely massive in scale, and is quite possibly one of the most formidable looking dragons in the game.

Overall, there are dozens of unique dragons to peruse in Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, and those listed here are just the tip of the iceberg> Each dragon carries its own unique backstory and personality, and serves a distinct role in the game itself in terms of strategy.
