Tazmin Brits’ record knock powers South Africa to ODI series win over Pakistan

South Africa Women sealed the ODI series against Pakistan Women with a 25-run win via DLS method in the second ODI at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Friday, September 19. The victory, built on a monumental batting effort, gave South Africa a 2-0 unassailable lead in the three-match series.

Tazmin Brits and Laura Wolvaardt slam centuries for South Africa

The day belonged to Tazmin Brits, who struck a breathtaking 171 off 141 balls with 20 fours and 4 sixes – the highest ODI score. She shared a record-breaking partnership with captain Laura Wolvaardt, who anchored the innings with a patient 100 off 129 deliveries. The duo’s 292-run opening stand flattened Pakistan’s bowling, with the visitors finishing at 292/3 in 46 overs before rain curtailed the innings.

Pakistan fight back with Sidra Ameen and Natalia Pervaiz’s quickfire knocks

Chasing a revised DLS target, Pakistan Women put up a spirited fight thanks to Sidra Ameen’s brilliant 122 off 110 balls. Her innings, decorated with 13 boundaries, kept Pakistan in the hunt. She found strong support from Natalia Pervaiz, who smashed 73 off 60 balls, as the pair added crucial runs in the middle overs.

However, regular wickets at the back end derailed Pakistan’s chase. From a strong position at 247/4, they slipped to 287 all out in 44.4 overs, falling short by 25 runs (DLS method).

For South Africa, Nadine de Klerk led the charge with 3/45, while experienced all-rounder Marizanne Kapp (2/37) and Chloe Tryon (2/55) made key breakthroughs. Despite Pakistan’s brilliance in the middle-orders, South Africa’s bowlers ensured the target remained out of reach.
