Noni Madueke has confirmed his exit from Chelsea as he closes in on a move to Arsenal.
The England international is poised to move across London after terms on a £52million deal were reportedly agreed last week.
Madueke was allowed to leave Chelsea’s base at the Club World Cup – a tournament the Blues ended up winning – and return to England to discuss a switch to the Emirates.
The 23-year-old subsequently jetted off on holiday, hence why there has been no official announcement from either club, but he went on social media this afternoon to reveal his time at Stamford Bridge was over.
He wrote on Instagram: “I want to thank you for the last three or so years. To every staff member that helped me along this journey, thank you. To my team-mates thank you for everything, I leave with only love and admiration for you guys.
“We achieved so much this season and I honestly wish you guys nothing but the best. To Enzo Maresca, it was a privilege to play under you, thank you for trying to better me as a player and as a person.
“Lastly thank you to every single Chelsea fan. Thank you for the love, the praise and also the criticism, I appreciate it all. I leave here with nothing but fond memories.”
Arsenal fans not convinced by Madueke capture
London-born Madueke joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven for £28m in January 2023, signing a seven-and-a-half-year deal.
He developed into one of the Premier League’s better widemen, making 67 top-flight appearances, scoring 13 goals and adding five assists.
He will provide a useful option for Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, predominantly on the left where Arsenal have largely utilised forward Gabriel Martinelli.
His impending arrival has not gone down too well with a section of the Arsenal fans, though, some of whom organised a #NoToMadueke campaign.
Noni Madueke stats
After a youth career with Tottenham and Crystal Palace, Madueke rejected an offer from Manchester United and joined PSV as a 16-year-old in 2018, going on to score seven goals in seven starts and 17 substitute appearances during a breakthrough 2020/21 season in the Eredivisie.
A regular for England at youth levels, Madueke helped Lee Carsley’s Young Lions win the Euro Under-21 title in 2023 and made his senior debut when Carsley was caretaker boss in September 2024, including an assist in a 2-0 win at home to Finland.
He has made six England appearances and produced two more assists since then, including one for Harry Kane’s winner against Andorra in manager Thomas Tuchel’s first away game in June 2025.
