Manchester United are reportedly keen on landing Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton for £60 million at the end of the campaign.
The Red Devils were keen on bolstering their midfield department over the summer and made contact with Brighton & Hove Albion for Carlos Baleba.
However, a deal did not materialise. United were put off by the £115 million price tag. They were reluctant to pay more than £60 million for his services.
Baleba’s form has since declined at the Seagulls and reports now claim that United are weighing up a move for Wharton next summer.
The England international has made good progress over the past year and United are convinced that he can make the no.6 role his own.
Wharton is not looking for a new challenge away from the Eagles, but it is claimed that there is a gentleman’s agreement to sell him next summer.
United are ready to pay around £60m to prise the midfielder away from the FA Cup holders. They are likely to face competition from Liverpool.
