Earth's Plant Monster Reveals Its Deadly Nature in Shocking Finale

Warning: SPOILERS lie ahead for Alien: Earth season 1, episode 8, “The Real Monsters.”While Alien: Earth‘s finale focused largely on the hybrids getting their own back on those who had wronged and exploited them, the show’s alien lifeforms also had a substantial role, and we finally learned what’s really going on with the plant monster. Throughout the eight episodes, several unique creatures were given a major spotlight, and this continued towards “The Real Monsters'” conclusion.

Despite how they’ve been portrayed previously in the franchise, Alien: Earth completely changed how xenomorphs worked, as Wendy managed to communicate with one and control it. Using it as a weapon, Wendy instructed the alien to kill several soldiers during the last few episodes, reminding viewers about just how terrifying the iconic horror species really is.

They weren’t the only extraterrestrial lifeform to make an impression though, as Alien: Earth‘s eyeball creature completely stole the show, but one monster remained an anomaly, the D. Plumbicare. The plant-like alien was introduced early on, yet didn’t make any sort of impact throughout most of the series. However, the finale changed that by finally showing exactly what it was capable of.

Alien: Earth’s Plant Species Reveals What It’s Capable Of In the Finale

While we’d seen plenty of the project’s other alien species in action, the D. Plumbicare remained eerily dormant episode after episode until it finally got loose in the finale, and the results were every bit as horrifying as you’d expect. Leading a crew into Prodigy’s lab, Rashidi and Siberian initially believed all the aliens were secure, but this wasn’t the case.

As they looked around, the plant creature could be seen moving across the wall, and despite its huge size, it was surprisingly stealthy. It stalked its prey, almost tapping Siberian in the shoulder before eventually grabbing and eating her during Alien: Earth season 1’s eventful ending, giving the soldier a rather grim fate.

Despite its almost nonchalant demeanor, the D. Plumbicare is surprisingly fast and crafty, hence being able to claim its first known victim. Of all the new species introduced in the prequel show, it certainly seemed the most innocent, but the finale proved it is every bit as deadly as the other creatures, and it certainly shouldn’t be underestimated in the future.

How D. Plumbicare Compares To Other Species In Alien: Earth

The D. Plumbicare is certainly menacing, given its unexpectedly sly nature, but Alien: Earth‘s other species are just as intimidating in their own way. Most Alien fans already know about xenomorphs and their intelligence, but the prequel series highlighted that they can be communicated and reasoned with, although they are still bloodthirsty predators that are near impossible to stop.

The T. Ocellus was perhaps the most interesting new addition, as its motivations were never quite clear. It latches on to its prey using its tentacle-like limbs, before replacing the host’s eyeball with itself, allowing the creature to control an entire body. Alongside being extremely intelligent, the T. Ocellus also found a way to communicate with Kavalier and even fought a xenomorph.

Although the beetle creatures weren’t given too much time in the spotlight, they were the only species that managed to kill one of the Lost Boys during the series, as they sprayed Tootles with some kind of acid that caused him to malfunction and die. Likewise, Species 19 were quiet killers, using distraction tactics to feast on humans.

Each alien had their own unique way of dealing with their targets and surviving in new circumstances, and while most of Alien: Earth‘s lifeforms differed one way or another from the D. Plumbicare, they all had killer instincts, with the plant creature being no exception.
