The return of Jimmy Kimmel Live! has sparked both joy and anger among US citizens. And now, Disney is preparing for the inevitable fight it will have to face against the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Trump coming after Disney was something that shocked no one, especially not the executives of the industry giant. According to Bloomberg, they suspected that the president would come after them even before Kimmel gave his opinion about the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 15.
Two Disney insiders explained that ever since the Trump Administration took over, almost every single media company has suffered “unprecedented challenges.” Disney already saw the writing on the wall when the president began to sue corporations because he believed that they were “biased” and allegedly unfairly attacking him.
The most worrisome part, from Disney’s perspective, is that Trump has won a few of those lawsuits. While they haven’t officially been sued yet, they are already more than prepared for the storm to come.
What Disney’s Legal Battle Means For Its Future
It has been made abundantly clear that Disney is between a rock and a hard place at the moment. First, it faced backlash for suspending Kimmel and lost many of its supporters. Then it brought back the host’s show, and, as a result, the president threatened them with a lawsuit.
Disney standing its ground against Trump would likely help it regain a decent portion of its following. However, the Trump Administration and the FCC going after the studio is going to be an uphill battle, to say the least.
Our Take On Disney Fighting Back
After its slip up with temporarily pulling Kimmel from its lineup, it is refreshing to see Disney fighting for the rights of their talent. The studio’s change of plans could definitely boost its damaged reputation and possibly even win back some of the actors they lost.
Disney fighting back against Trump also semi-debunks the assumption that all it cares about is money. While its finances will always be a priority, which is completely fair, this at least suggests that it’s a company that can learn from its mistakes and move forward to change and improve.
