Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that winger Noni Madueke picked up an injury during the 1-1 Premier League draw against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The Gunners shared the spoils against the Cityzens yesterday. Erling Haaland opened the scoring early and the hosts had to wait until the dying stages of stoppage time to bag a well-earned equaliser.
Gabriel Martinelli scored the leveller with a superb lob over goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after a wonderful long pass by Eberechi Eze. Speaking after the game, Arteta said that Madueke’s substitution was forced upon him.
The Spanish tactician revealed that Madueke sustained an injury very early into the game and he had to be substituted as he was not comfortable playing.
Bukayo Saka replaced him on the right wing after the interval and played a key part in turning the momentum in the Gunners’ favour before Martinelli’s late stoppage time equaliser.
City tried to park the bus for most of the second half and paid the price in the end. Despite their ultra defensive tactic, Arsenal found a way to find the back of the net yesterday.
