Yellowstone Connections To Taylor Sheridan’s New Western Series Teased By Kurt Russell

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe became a huge worldwide hit, and now his latest Western series, The Madison, could also be linked.

The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams, and Matthew Fox, shows how grief and human connection can shape a family. Even though both shows are set in Montana, Yellowstone and The Madison have been confirmed previously that they are not connected, and the latter is a standalone story.

In an interview with The Wrap, Pfeiffer and Russell spoke about their new series, which explores the themes of tragedy, family, and love, but also teased something even more as they hinted at potentially linking the series with Sheridan’s hit franchise, Yellowstone. Pfeiffer describes The Madison as being a part of the Yellowstoneuniverse“, and Russell is even placing bets on both series eventually crossing paths.

“I’m not going to bet a lot of money, but I’ll put my quarter about it’ll be interesting to see if somewhere down the road, if it continues, where it might connect some dots.”

Pfeiffer discussed her journey of being cast in Sheridan’s new Western and even reached out to a Yellowstone alum, Helen Mirren, who starred in the prequel 1923 for two seasons.

“I reached out to Helen Mirren, not because I know her, but because I figured maybe I could get to her through certain people. I thought she’ll have a good idea and be really truthful with me about the experience. And she did. She couldn’t have been more complimentary. She said, ‘The scripts are perfect, the production is perfect. I’m having the time of my life.'”

Both actors teased that season 2 is already planned out, with a lot of the second season already filmed. It has already been confirmed that a second season of The Madison is on the way, but the ratings are proving to be one of the lowest for Sheridan’s entire catalog. Since its first episode release, the Rotten Tomatoes score for season 1 is at 67%, which is a disappointing drop for a series that could potentially join the Yellowstone universe.

At the time of writing, Sheridan himself hasn’t confirmed what Russell teased is true, and has previously made it clear that The Madison is a standalone series. However, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility if the two Western universes combine, and it seems both Pfeiffer and Russell are happy to join Yellowstone.

The Madison is available to stream on Paramount+.
