The Xbox team has officially announced the date of the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase, and after the show, there will be an additional livestream giving a closer look at the upcoming The Outer Worlds 2. The event is happening just two days after another major industry event, the Summer Games Fest, so audiences are getting a lot of gaming news in a short amount of time. Xbox fans can expect quite a bit of new information and announcements regarding first-party and third-party Xbox titles, as well as a deep dive into the highly anticipated RPG The Outer Worlds 2.
The Xbox Games Showcase will be on June 8 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT and will be livestreamed from Xbox’s YouTube and Twitch accounts. The Xbox Games Showcase will include “looks at upcoming titles from across our first-party studios, in addition to incredible new titles from our third-party partners across the globe.”
Immediately following the conclusion of the event, The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will reveal “new gameplay, details, and developer insights, straight from the people making the sequel to the award-winning, first-person sci-fi RPG.” The exact time of The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will depend upon the timing of the end of the main showcase.
What Can We Expect At The Xbox Showcase?
Fable, Gears Of War, And More Might Be On The Table
While the exact line-up of games and announcements is currently a mystery, besides The Outer Worlds 2, there are quite a few games that could be shown. The statement from Xbox that the show will include both first-party and third-party games puts a lot of possibilities out there. First-party titles that have been announced that might get more information include: Fable, Gears of War: E-Day, Perfect Dark, Marvel’s Blade, and several others. Fable was delayed until 2026, so it could be the prime time to reintroduce the game and an official launch date.

The Xbox Summer Showcase 2024 was a crucial moment for Microsoft to validate the value of Game Pass amid a history of underwhelming exclusive titles.
There is also a rumor of an unannounced Gears of War collection remaster appearing at the showcase with a launch date of 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and surprisingly, PlayStation 5. Expect shockwaves in the fanbase should the iconic Xbox franchise cross to another platform.
Our Take: The Xbox Games Showcase Could Be A Big Show
But Will It Be Overshadowed By Summer Game Fest?
There are a lot of games that could be shown and announced at the Xbox Games Showcase, and with the first-party games most likely coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one, there is a lot for Xbox fans to be excited about. But the third-party line-up for the show is difficult to predict at this point. We finally saw gameplay of Hollow Knight: Silksong during the Switch 2 reveal, and it’s confirmed to be a day one Game Pass game, so maybe we’ll see more of Silksong and a release date.
Obsidian’s The Other Worlds 2 getting a deep dive after the main event may indicate we will get a release date for that game too, and it may be the big late-year game for Xbox. With the Xbox Games Showcase being just two days after Summer Games Fest, it’s possible the Xbox event might get overshadowed by announcements at that show. Or, maybe most of the Xbox-related announcements will be saved for the Xbox Games Showcase. Either way, we won’t have long to wait to see what Xbox has in store for 2025 and beyond.
