Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said his team would “take the point” after Patrick Roberts’ composed strike 20 seconds after half-time earned Birmingham a draw in the Championship at StoK Cae Ras.
On-loan Sunderland winger Roberts collected Jay Stansfield’s pass inside the box and sent a diagonal finish under goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo for the former Premier League side, who fell behind when Max Cleworth’s header from a corner was glanced in by George Dobson in the 13th minute.

“It’s been a tough week for us, in terms of [playing] Derby, Leicester and Birmingham,” Parkinson told Sky Sports Football.
“The lads have really given us everything and there’s a lot of quality out there to discuss, in difficult [playing] conditions.

“We’ll take the point. It’s frustrating not to take all three but Birmingham are a good team. We were confident at half-time but it’s [about] moments, isn’t it?
“The goal came out of nothing. We tried to respond but I thought we looked leggy and lacked spark to respond.”
Wrexham vs Birmingham: Championship draw
Lewis O’Brien had a presentable chance to double the hosts’ advantage shortly after the opener when Marc Leonard gave the ball away, only to shoot straight at goalkeeper James Beadle.
Wrexham are 14th and unbeaten in five matches in all competitions after drawing their last three games 1-1, while Birmingham are 11th and have won one of their last seven.
Both sides are next in action on October 18, when Wrexham visit Stoke City and Birmingham host Hull City.
“It was a fair result but to concede that early is a real blow.”
