The opening day of the pink-ball Test between West Indies and Australia featured some gripping pace action. Among the standout moments was a brilliant delivery from Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc, who clean bowled a West Indian batter with a peach of a delivery.
Mitchell Starc’s late swing cleans up Kevlon Anderson
Playing in his landmark 100th Test, Starc did what he has been doing consistently for over a decade. In the final session of the opening day, the left-arm pacer dismissed debutant Kevlon Anderson with a sharp delivery. Clocking 140kph, Starc bowled a full ball that swung in late. Anderson leaned forward to drive but only managed an inside edge that deflected onto his leg stump. His short stay ended with 3 runs from 14 balls — a classic Starc dismissal that highlighted his knack for early breakthroughs with the new ball. The clip of the wicket quickly became one of the key highlights of the day, with fans widely sharing the video online.

Shamar Joseph leads the charge as pacers dominate Day 1
The opening day of the final Test saw bowlers dominate under the pink ball. Australia, after choosing to bat, were restricted to 225 in 70.3 overs. Steve Smith top-scored with a composed 48, while Cameron Green added a valuable 46. Pat Cummins provided late entertainment, striking three sixes in his brisk 24. The West Indies pace attack was relentless, with Shamar Joseph leading the way by claiming four wickets. Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales supported well, picking up three wickets each.
In response, West Indies ended day one at 16 for 1 after 9 overs, still trailing Australia by 209 runs. Debutant Anderson was dismissed by Starc for 3, caught off a well-directed delivery. This left Brandon King and captain Roston Chase at the crease to continue their innings on day two. With the pitch offering noticeable assistance to the bowlers through movement and bounce, both teams will be looking to take advantage and gain the upper hand as the match unfolds further.
