Why Apple TV’s Shrinking Season 3 Is Taking Over US Streaming Charts (Even Beating Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters)

Shrinking has officially overtaken Monarch: Legacy of Monsters on Apple TV’s streaming charts in the United States. It’s a pretty significant achievement, since season 2 of this Monsterverse TV show was among the most anticipated of early 2026. Indeed, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is currently Apple’s #1 TV show globally, with Shrinking taking the #3 spot (via Flix Patrol). In the United States, however, it’s Shrinking that comes in on top.

Shrinking originally premiered its first season on Apple TV in January 2023. Critics lauded this first installment, and it wasn’t long before Apple gave the green light for a second season, which arrived in October of 2024. Once again, this dramedy hit its mark, and Shrinking season 3 was confirmed that very same month. The premiere hit Apple TV on January 28, 2026, and season 3 has been yet another glorious success. Still, it’s only now in March 2026 that this exceptional TV show has officially taken over the United States.

Apple TV’s Shrinking Is A Clever Dark Comedy With A Stellar Cast

There’s no doubt that Shrinking deserves its #1 spot on Apple TV in the United States. It’s a truly exceptional series. Created by Bill Lawrence, Jason Segel, and Brett Goldstein, Shrinking follows a therapist, Jimmy (Segel), whose wife recently passed away in a tragic accident. For over a year, Jimmy sank into depression, substance abuse, and general self-destruction, all the while continuing to see patients under the eye of his boss and mentor, Paul (Harrison Ford). It isn’t until Jimmy starts telling patients what he really thinks of their problems that his perspective on life changes.

Shrinking is dark comedy through and through. It’s a series that doesn’t shy away from using life’s hardest topics as a source of laughter. This takes some truly clever writing to pull off, as well as absolutely spectacular performances from Shrinking‘s stellar cast. Segel and Ford are both geniuses in the way of comedic delivery, and their on-screen chemistry makes us wish they’d been working together years sooner. Of course, they aren’t the only ones responsible for Shrinking‘s success. Segel and Ford are joined by Jessia Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Christa Miller, Ted McGinley, and more.

The story and characters in Shrinking have come a long way since season 1, and season 3 sees its cast fully settled in with one another. The safety that this familiarity implies for its characters is contagious, allowing the laughs and tears to come freely and in equal measure, sometimes simultaneously. Shrinking season 3 has also brought in several exciting guest stars, including Michael J. Fox, Cobie Smulders, and Jeff Daniels. Overall, it’s no surprise this installment has allowed Shrinking to take over Apple TV’s top 10.

There’s Still Time To Catch Up On Shrinking Ahead Of Season 3’s Finale

Next Wednesday, on March 25, 2026, Shrinking season 3’s ninth episode will hit Apple TV. This puts us just a couple of weeks away from the dramedy’s finale on April 8, 2026. So, if you haven’t yet dived into the series, now is the perfect time. Shrinking seasons 1 and 2 are made up of 10 episodes each, and these episodes have an average runtime of about 30 to 40 minutes. The show is basically built for binging, so it would only take a couple cozy late-winter weekends to get caught up. That way, when Shrinking season 3 has its finale in April, you’ll be ready to tune in.

Segel, Lawrence, and Goldstein originally revealed that Shrinking would follow a three-season arc. However, the Apple TV show has officially been renewed for a fourth installment as of January 2026. It’s difficult to say how much further the trio of showrunners plans to take the story. Regardless, it’s clear that picking up the show now is an investment that will pay off long term. Considering Shrinking‘s status as Apple TV’s #1 show in the US, it’s a no-brainer.
